But it is chugging.
It started out quite rough.
I suggested we drain some crankcase oil since they overfilled it yesterday. Since it is up past the marks, I have no idea how far above "full" it is. It may be why it is blowing smoke. Plenty, white with a bluish tint. Doesn't smell like...
Hmmm...
I can't seem to find a reference anywhere offering this solenoid push-on terminal for sale. Perhaps we will need a new positive battery cable assembly that would have one properly installed. Even so, I still can't find a reference that shows this wire included with the cable (coming...
I got up the nerve
... to thread my arm under the brake cylinder and reached the wire bundle near the starter. There is a wire about 2-3 inches long that has no terminal on it whatsoever. Work should have stopped right there so a new terminal could be installed.
Now I just need to find...
Update...
It appears that there is a connection missing up by the fuse box- there is a gray terminal with a large single spade connector hanging in mid air. It has a brown wire that travels up the battery cable and connects to the battery. The wire continues down another large cable toward...
Hi folks!
After a very long time in my driveway we are getting somewhere.
We have done an engine swap, and it seems the starter solenoid wire is missing. Five guys were over yesterday, and when we got to this wire, none was found.
I couldn't get in to see where this wire may have been...
mwilson,
THANK YOU for your response. My Cummins Quickserve doesn't allow me direct access to the page you posted, so I tried the part number in the "Search Parts Catalog" field and the entire exploded view showed up. Maybe it's a browser issue.
I think once the owner sees the screws he...
OK
The number I use on Quickserve is 56965133.
I haven't got a metric tap set yet. I am buying a milling machine today, so the tap sets and all the other et cetras are sure to follow...
Thanks!

I've managed to misplace four of them, and I haven't been able to find which size I need to replace them. These are the screws that attach the sensor to the top of the intake manifold. This is on a 2003 3500, 5.9. All stock. I can pick up some replacements at the local heavy-duty hardware store...
That #4 does look like a spring....
And it would be relatively easy to get it to "sing". Perhaps the "spring" is enough to cause excessive vibration. The other lines do not have as much "spring" in their design. I am almost positive that the entire intake cover resonates uniformly, but #4...
Since these are torqued fittings, grease is correct- if you don't grease them, the line would probably be preloaded.
I am wondering why this location has more vibration than others...or is it the line length and/or twist? Anybody magnaflux one to find out if there are cracks from the factory...
The Geno's Garage #4 clamp...
Is that the updated version coming from a later model?
Cummins Quickserve does not list this as part for the 2003 5.9. I ordered a full set of injector lines, and they list the 3957904, but when ordered I was sent the 5289447.
This line is secured by what...
As I am thinking through...
The CP3 that arrived on this engine also was "in a flood". The engine was run for an undetermined amount of time after the flood. The is rust
spotting on the steel parts in spite of the protective coating.
I opened up the fuel filter body and found a lot of debris...
