I think Bob Wagner, the creator of Smarty along with Marco may have answered Question #1... As for having problems going back to stock, I have not, and normally return the truck back to stock prior to taking it to dealer in case they update. .
Can you pull with the Gearvendors unit? A couple guys checked into it on "the other" Dodge website and they said Gearvendors would not warranty their product if you pull with it... .
And yes, I have heard of Dodge not honoring warranties after someone is caught using an aftermarket power adder. The dealerships are on the look out for this...
Wow, this is an old thread. haven't been on here much lately, but good to see the old threads still kicked around. I've run my DD set-up pulling a 10K trailer from Alaska to Illinois, no problems. No slipping, ran awesome.
I have seen videos of a couple of powerstrokes pulling tractors and trailers in the snow... (Diesel Stop) Really it is all about momentum... Doesn't matter is was a Cummins, Stroker, or Duramax... .
Well if you haven't heard it enough... Guys on the other Cummins site have also discussed this. There were about 10-15 guys that were running the BFG 315s that had DW, replaced the tires and it went away. Obviously there were guys on there with no problems, guys on there with other problems...
I have the 5 inch diamond eye for my 06. Went smooth until the part where it does not fit properly with the Jacobs brake. Had to tweak 1 of the brackets to get it to sit right. Clearance for the 5 inch downpipe were pretty tight. Overall, if I didn't spend like 4 hours messing with it to fit...
#6 Check the ball joints/U joints. Is it a Laramie, or SLT? Was it the front tire or a rear. Manual or auto? Does it have gauges? Any obvious signs of any power enhancements? Off the line does it vibrate at all?
One of the guys on the DTR website did it to his truck. It actually looked better than I though it would because I am no fan of the mega fender flares...
Agreed, got it in my 2006 and it is not user friendly at all. I use my Nuvi 350 more than the stock unit. Funny the mopar is the most expensive of the stock Nav units yet somehow is one of the worst...
