    Transmission temp question

Sounds normal to me. In the summer I see 195 to 210 pulling trailers on two lanes. Its rare to see 225 plus unless I'm backing up a hill. My old 48RE runs 165 to 175 in the pan on the interstate year round. All stock cooling system, but the trans has been rebuilt with Goerend parts. I love...

    Feul Guage

Unless you have tool boxes, aux fuel tank, 5th wheel hitch. Lifting the bed doesn't work well on either of my trucks. I need to drop my tank soon, sending unit only reads 3/4 when full but its the original on my 2003. Good time for new fuel lines too.

    Bio Crap

Many years ago I could tell the difference in power and economy when fueling in different states. GA and AL went Bio and NC was noticeably better straight #2 fuel. My 03 has run lots of Walmart Bio diesel now, never had an issue with algae growth though. Running Bio diesel makes anti-gel a must...

    Injectors

"Passenger side battery 11.47 volts, drivers side 12.12 volts with the terminals removed." Passenger battery is toast, you need to determine if the batteries are being properly charged though. I would replace them ASAP anyway, surprised the truck starts. Every time my batteries show a resting...

    Brifa (brand) 9007 headlight bulb?

Philips mid priced bulbs from Walmart work for me, seem to last longer than the old Silverstars that kept burning out every year.

    Injectors

My 03 runs at 14.5/14.6 volts in warm weather, 14.8 if its chilly out. Mismatched battery voltage could be a weak battery, but I would guess its a corroded battery cable. Usually the positive cross over cable going to the passenger side. The passenger side battery goes first because it is...

    Jasper Transmissions

Stage 1 is $4100.00, Goerend sourced parts. I had my 48RE rebuilt because I knew it's history. It had stock HP most of its life, no harsh treatment. The Goerend package is much better than stock, holds power very well. Stage 1 uses your stock shafts. Blacks Diesel does good work and they do...

    Air filters

Yes it was Amazon, but its a vendor I've used in the past, CrossFilters or something like that. I get my Donaldson fuel filters from them too. I rather have one without the foam, but they have been coming that way. I guess I need to change vendors. I have been getting my Donaldson fuel filters...

    Air filters

I have a WIX 49946 with a black rubber seal and white foam on the bottom, looks different than the usual. Came in a legit looking WIX box. The 49946 stamp looks like an after thought, says made in Mexico.

Thinking about getting a 3rd gen

I still have my 2003 DRW 4x4 auto, its reliable, my daily driver kinda. Work from home so no daily commute! Mostly a tow rig, I hope it out lasts me I don't want to deal with the modern emission systems.

    class of factory hitch

I put a Curt class 5 underneath the stock one that was bending under my 7 ton dove tail PJ. If I remember right the OEM hitch was mounted over the frame rails or something. I remember it was easier to just leave it in place. Makes for a beefy rear.

NAPA Gold oil filters are no longer made by Wix

I've started using the heavy duty synthetic Puralator Boss on my stuff, another option local stores stock. US made filter, not cheap though! Tough filters, thick cans, well made.

    Trailer plug

I have Hopkins regular plugs on my 03 now. Walmart had the replacement all in one 7 and 4 Hopkins truck plug. The 4 pin is molded into the plastic. Better than the old 4 pin under the bed...

    Air filters

The black and white Fleet Guard filter I had a couple years ago was lighter and had more flex. It was thick like the Wix, just not as hefty. I hated those original thin filters, they plugged up quick. Maybe it was the white color but the top of the filter turned grey with dirt. The yellow Mopar...
