I had a 40' Wells Cargo and thought it was an excellent choice. I presently have a United UXT and it is also a fair choice and somewhat cheaper than the Wells.
I have an 05 DRW 2WD long bed 3500 with the automatic and 4:10's. I have pulled heavy equipment on a gooseneck trailer from AZ through the mountains to NY and ND, average weight 30,000 GCW. I average about 9. 5 MPG across the board (10,000 miles) with flat land at about 11MPG and mountain grades...
Do any of you have any knowledge or experience with 6 pack slide in campers. I've been looking for a slide in camper, and the prices are stunning. 6 pack seems to be a better value - but I wonder if you get what you pay for. Thanks
you are way over weight for a bumper pull (frame type) hitch. If I catch you out there, the ticket will be stiff and the truck will be tagged out on the spot.

I agree, the cost of re-gearing would not be justified in the slight increase in rated towing capacity. Shift into direct (third) when you need to pull a grade. I lived in Phoenix for three years, and pulled a 18,000# gooseneck trailer. in General, you run out of power, not gears. If you are...
