not being a pest at all!!!
not in the higher gears, just 2nd and 3rd. and it'll make the noise if i go about 1000 and then come back down at a coast(which i noted today).
yes, today i went uphill in 3rd with foot off accelerator, the rpms were up around 1500, then fell off and once they...
thanks Bob, i was smart enough to set the trip after my last fill up, but i didn't think to compare the results re this problem!
i also have a P0602 code for ECM fuel callibration error which i forgot about until a bit ago. i called the local diesel shop and they said there's no way the ECM...
i need to replace my faulty gauge. It's Autometer Ultralight, FP gauge, and the only ones i can find on the internet are either 0-15psi or 0-100 psi. neither of these are very helpful when my engine likes to run at 18. has anyone else had the problem of locating such a gauge? the one i have now...
hmmmm... . my 216 was discovered originally over a month ago (and forgot about it until recently bc of other things that were going on at the time). truck isn't running as good, acting like it's suffocating, less black smoke and reduced boost. i'm scared to death evertime i go to work and wonder...
nope, no grinding when stopped or when clutch is released. i observed it this morning and grinding can be noticed when in 2nd or 3rd and below 1000rpm. as soon as it pops above the one grand mark, grinding/vibration ceases. more noticeable when under load/going uphill.
pardon my ignorance...
i hadn't had time yet to check the wiring and other things you suggested... but i did check the codes... 216 was thrown.
pardon my ignorance, can a 216 be caused by anything other than the VP failure?
i'm hoping to have time this weekend to check things out.
thanks,

i know the top of the list is good, the fuel filter was replaced last week (the first thing i decided to start with). i'll get started on the others and report back, thanks :)
hmmmm... i can't honestly say. i think i'll take a quick trip around the neighborhood and pay more attention to it and get back to you with the details.
you're meaning sitting still, in gear, clutch depressed. i'll check it out today, thank you.
i also have a grinding problem of the transmission.
first gear is fine. when i am stopped, and put it in second for take off and let the cluth out without too much gas, there is grinding coming from the transmission area (i think). when i'm on the lower side of RPMs and shift into third and keep the...
hello, and thanks for reading this.
1. my truck usually has quite a jump when you first start pressing down on the pedal. the past couple months now, i've seriously noticed that has been missing. it accelaerates fine, can take off pretty quick, but not the same. gauges looked good.
the...
have you checked your intercooler boots/hose?
my 2000 slowly lost power, and the boost pres wasn't quite where is should be. turned out to be leaky innercooler boots. put a new set of bad boys on there, and problem was solved.

Adam,
what do you sttribute to the grinding? i have the same prob in my truck, NV 4500 as well, i notice it the most if i take off (not moving) in 2nd. clutch realeased and thereis grinding, floor board in front of the shifter, and it will only last until the RPMs kick up a bit. once going no...
rumor has it that the NV4500 has 2 bushings around the joint in the tower that can become worn, and also a spring, all which lead to a wobbly shifter.
i'll see if i can find replacements, perhaps a kit, and post results.
