    Transmission oil cooler

I did a search and found your wonderful informative post. I have a 2001.5 with the NV5600 and have tried different fluids etc. to eliminate the hard shifting and read a lot of posts related to the problem of shifting. I finally realized on my last trip that my truck shifts fine when cold but not...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) NV-5600 cooler and filter

I had also thought about a spin on filter of some sort but had wondered about back pressure of the filter. To me, this whole idea doesn't seem complicated but the unknown of doing something that is normally not done to a manual transmission that keeps me questioning what I have in mind to do...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) NV-5600 cooler and filter

Thats my thought about the reservior. Low pressure low volume something that would circulate the fluid slowly. The slower it goes through the cooler to a point the cooler the fluid would get? Another concern I was wondering about it mounting the cooler higher than the transmission. Would the...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) NV-5600 cooler and filter

Gary, I mentioned this the other day somewhere else on TDR but I never got a response that I thought was helpful. Why couldn't you install on each plate on the side of the transmission a bung for a line to circulate the transmission fluid in one side of the transmission and out the other...

NV5600 and quart overfill = hotter trans?

Has anyone considered placing a low flow low pressure pump and a transmission cooler on the NV5600? Looks like this would be a fix for the high temps created in this transmission. I would think a small cooler with fluid flowing through it would make the fluid stay cooler and last longer between...

    Repair manual. factory kind.

I wonder how close it would be to my 2001 1/2 3500. Approximately what do you want for it... . $50 or $200. I wish it was closer to my model. I figure you are just wanting to get rid of it if you don't have the truck any more.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Hard shifting 5600

Josh, I would call Standard Transmission of Ft. Worth, Texas and ask them on your model if it would be the same as my transmission. I believe that we both have the same transmission and they recommend 2 quart overfill. They recommend pulling the shift tower and pouring in from there. It has...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Hard shifting 5600

I have had the same problem until I overfilled the transmission by 2 quarts with the recommended Amsoil fluid. Check with Standard Transmission and they do the same thing. I thought I was having clutch issues until I did this and have had no problems since. Hopefully this might be a cheaper fix...

SHOP TIPS -- thanks to KBennett

I recycle paper towels that we use in the kitchen for drying our hands. Hang a grocery store plastic bag on a kitchen drawer handle and when you wash your hands place the paper towel in the bag. When the bag is full, empty it into a box in the garage and take the bag back to the kitchen for a...

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 94-01 Steering Wandering Count!!

2001 Quad cab 4X2 3500 No problems at all. Drives great and doesn't wander like my 2001 Quad cab 4X2 2500 did. Nothing seemed to help on my old truck other than hooking my TT to it. Drove well when pulling but wandered when empty.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Shifting my 01

I have found that tapping the throttle after pushing in the clutch prior to shifting to the next gear keeps your RPM's where they were prior to shifting and makes for a smooth shift. Just give the throttle a quick tap (burp?) and you will be surprised how smooth you shift with no jerking. It is...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Oh No!!!!!

Well, I have got to ask this question. I have a 2001 HO and wonder every time I get in it whether the KDP is going to raise its ugly head. What do you all think is the percentage of having problems with the KDP for a stock engine. Are we talking about 20% or 80% probability of having problems...

    injector connector tubes

My ignorance here but if you are having problems with one injector do you have to replace them all? I have been "Searching" and have not seen this mentioned. What is the procedure for determining which injector is the problem?
