I was clued in by others on here to just remove the ABS sensor and add grease through that hole. This has worked great for me. No drilling or metal shavings to fall in there. Just remove the tire and its one allen head bolt and its out. I've got 150,000 miles of hard use on my original bearings...
I just don't want the transfer case to fly apart on me 300 miles from home because of it. I've read some horror stories of guys ignoring those little vibrations only to have something break (like the transfer case) and cause thousands of dollars in extra damage. Probably just being paranoid but...
It does not vibrate in park or neutral. Only while going down the road. I will have both shafts balanced as soon as possible. Just waitin on parts to rebuild the front shaft.
I've already been driving with the front shaft off for 2 months now because a u-joint was out on the double cardan. The vibration isn't as bad with it off, but still very noticeableat 68-74mph. Also, it seems to intensify for a second or two right after I let off the throttle. Going to have both...
As long as I've owned my truck, its had a noticeable vibration that starts above 65, gets worse up to about 75, then all but disappears above 80 mph. I've tried everything, wheels balanced, replaced u-joints. Nothing has helped. Read an old thread on here about someone else with the exact same...
I have been having the same problems with mine. After reading this thread, I ordered the same kit from Electrical Advantage. I can not believe what a difference it made. Like new again. I too believe if i'd taken it to a trans. shop, they would have said it needed to be rebuilt. Saved me a lot...
Ok, makes sense to me. Thanks. Just waiting on injectors from DDP so we can start. Should be here any day now. Probably gonna have more questions once we tear into it.
Thanks, that makes me feel more comfortable about the install. Forgive my ignorance, but can you clarify the generator nut for engine barring? Is that the same as the alternator?
Getting geared up to replace the injectors on a buddies 04. 5. I've read the great install procedure posted on here and it seems to be pretty straightforward. My biggest question/concern is getting access to #5 and especially #6. Is there enough room to get back in there with the appropriate...
Thank you for that info. That's kinda what I figured, just wanted to rule it out for sure. And yes he said at the worst, it was using almost two gallons in a 5000-7000 mile period. I never checked the intercooler myself cause we live 80 miles apart. He said he pulled the boot off and it was...
Interesting, thanks for the replies. He did say that the last week or so, it hasn't used as much. And he doesn't do his own oil changes. Not sure what oil they're putting back in, I thought Rotella. I'll have to ask him. I tried getting him to send in an oil sample but he hasn't yet. Still no...
That makes sense to me and I will look into that. He's run the factory air box and filter since the truck was brand new so it makes me wonder how it could've ingested that much dust. The reason I asked about the oil getting back into the fuel is because it happened with one of our trucks at work...
My brother drives a bone stock '05 six speed with 190,000 miles on it. Lately he says its been using a couple gallons of oil per change (5000-7000 miles). No leaks anywhere on the truck. No extra/odd colored smoke. Blow-by doesn't appear to be excessive. Checked the tubes to the intercooler, no...
Anyone else using the Optilube summer blend? I've been using it for a couple years now. Love the stuff. It scored #4 in the study and was by far the cheapest per tank full to use, of the top 4. Can't believe I don't hear more about it on here. I like stanadyne, but its a lot more expensive and...
I'm shopping for injectors for a friend of mine with an 04. 5 just like mine. I have always heard that the DDP's are the way to go. I compared the DDP 50's to the BD 60's and the BD's are quite a bit cheaper ( $500). Was just looking for some insight into each and which ones we should go with.
