I'm approacing my 36k mark on my 04. 5 SRW 2500. Probably half of the miles have been towing a 8-9k lbs toy hauler.
For most of it's life, the truck shifts quite hard from third to fourth when towing. It is a shift you feel, a dramatic harsh shift. If I ease up on the fuel just before shift...
Yep,
I have tested the mileage correction both with Mileage markers and Speedo tests (and GPS). It is spot on. Terrain is mostly highway (I5 in Oregon and California). Also mixed rural small roads.
I agree with the 2-3 mpg low statement. I wonder if it just the combo of Lumbar Racks...
I'm running this setup. I get some rubbing at 90% steering lock. Enough rub that I am careful when cranking the wheel, and going over bumps, dips, etc.
I am huge fan of the additional traction, no comparison to stock tires. None. I tow a lot, and the difference in wet traction was...
Hey gang,
04. 5 2500 4x4, auto, 3. 73 with camper shell and lumbar racks. 17k miles. The current fuel prices have me paying closer attention to mpg. I'm consistently getting 14. 5 empty, in mostly highway, some rural town roads. Feels OK. I have a light foot. I have 33's BFG AT's with the...
Another warning sign, is that the receipt shows no detail at all, nothing. We'll see if they refund my money today.
I know DIY is not challenging. I've done it, many times. I just don't want to.
I just noticed my non-curse "dealer" turned into "*****" hmm.
Anyway, this grows more interesting. The dealer is claiming that the tags on the axles indicate what fluid to use, and they do not indicate GL-5 Synthetic. I told him that fine, but would like a letter stating that they used the...
Thanks guys,
I was 90% sure while in the *******, but the 10% let me walk out the door. Re: doing it myself. I hear you... but rain (no shop, no garage), dirt drive and parking area (lying in the mud), and lack of time send me to one-stop shop dealer (needed mud flaps too).
Anyway...
Hey all,
I have a 2500 with a 4/04 build date, and just returned from the ******* for a fluid change on the diffs and transfer (15k miles). They originally told me big bucks for synthetic, and then while I was there said that my truck wasn't spec'd for synthetic.
So what changed between...
Just a quick note re: chaining brakes only... It can get very tricky when braking, the light rear end has a tendancy to swing around to try and catch up with the weighted, chained front end.
