If you've never done a diff before, and you don't have a friend around for advice on the gear fitment, you might be money ahead taking it to a diff shop and having them install the new bearing and seal and crush washer, and setting the proper depth for the engagement. Maybe some of the guys on...

Perry, I have an 05, and it you look at the overhead console, to the back of it is a center "slot" like area that might make a great place for switches-----just an idea!

ck-4 is most likely cleaning up the engine internals and that why the increase in FE.

My vote is for the pilot bearing, I lost mine on my gas truck, and it ate the end of the input shaft up to the point of replacement. The bearings are not the same type, but a dry bearing is a dry bearing.
