Chile,
I looked at mine the other day and it seems the coolant recovery bottle is held in by one screw into a tab on the driver side, one tab that sits in a slot on the upper fan shroud at the top and one other tab at the bottom that sits in a slot on the lower fan shroud. Is that correct? I...
This is from a 2003, might help? Shows the coolant bottle staying in place, just detached and pushed out of the way.
BTW, my 2004 service manual also states "(2) Remove coolant recovery container (Refer to 7 - COOLING/ENGINE/COOLANT RECOVERY CONTAINER - REMOVAL)." as a separate step before...
That's almost what I did back in 2016, the exception being that in my case the previous owner had already installed a 4" MBRP exhaust (factory was 3.5"). So instead of buying the C44031 kit (which connects to the turbo outlet at 4" and necks down to the stock 3.5" downpipe), I bought the C44037...
Every decision is a tradeoff/compromise of some sort. And there is always new stuff to learn.
My 2005 Jeep Liberty with the 2.8L Common Rail Diesel originally came with 7v ceramic glow plugs; there are reports that the tips would sometimes break off in the cylinder and do bad things...
Brings back memories. As a kid I used to love it when we would drive past a gas station and you could smell the benzene fumes. Gasoline just doesn't smell the same anymore! Probably for the better.
I remember hearing, many decades ago, that a USAF study was once commissioned (your tax dollars at work) to examine cockpit gauges and supposedly discovered that for many intelligence categories the optimum display for a pilot was a circular gauge about 2 inches in diameter, needle axis in the...
Thanks for listening, makes me feel validated.
The pic I posted above was "stolen" from a YouTube video at around 1:18. What's so amazing is the truck is not even running (RPMs = 0) and still the ECT decimals are flickering to beat the band, just like what happens in my truck.
Also...
So, that's another pet peeve of mine. What are display makers thinking? More digits is better? Just because an air pressure sensor might have a display that reads out in increments of 1/10th of a PSI (resolution) does not mean it's ACCURATE to 1/10th of a PSI; it just has electronics that can...
Because of where they're located they catch a lot of salt, dirt and moisture inside that steel sleeve in the cavity formed by the flat that runs the length of the bolt. Just last month, after over 20 years mine would not let go either. I couldn't get them to budge so I took the truck to a...
CD players, particularly in cars, are becoming more and more scarce, but they are still available. Most people nowadays who aren't listening to AM or FM get their music in their cars via satellite, Bluetooth or USB; which many new aftermarket radios support. As a bonus, unlike a CD, there is...
Both of mine were replaced under recall, but in separate notices. The first (driver side) in July 2015, the other in June 2017.
At the time, IIRC, they decided to selectively replace them in part based on location with a higher priority to warmer, more humid locations. I lived in Virginia at...
