here is another thought, i was reading other forums from a guy with a 03 that was having similar probs. some were saying that it could be the starter battery, or the starter. could this be tested with jumper cables, and another diesel?

Hey thanks alot gents. I will do some checking on all that you have told me. It does have very long crank time, even if it has been running at temp, and I shut it off, then instantly try to start again.
ether. didnt want to use it, but didnt have much choice. i just purchased the truck. and the dealer has tried to fix the problem twice. they are still trying to make good on the deal, and i believe that they will. but i would like to know what problems could be causing it. thanks for your input...
After the truck has been sitting for a long period, (at least 18 hours), it wont start. But after i finally get it running it will start for me all day long. Does anyone know what this problem might be? i would appricieate any and all input.
