  • MullenaxM,

Sorry if you have already answered this, but what is the best way to know when the truck is in a regen cycle? I read something about needing an exhaust temp gauge. Is that true? The truck is an 08 6.7.

    Thanks,
    Matt
    MullenaxM,
I have an 08 2500 6.7 completely stock motor, I have an AFE drop-in filter and a boost/egt gage. I just started noticing turbo surges, power and mileage losses and issues with the engine brake. Yesterday i took my truck into a local dealer and they told me I had the following codes:
P226B (and I WAS seeing boost #s of up to 34/35)
    P2262
    B1629
    B169C

since day one I have NEVER seen a message about the DPF, or regen or any other message on my overhead or from my odometer as I have read about in my owners manual or read about here.
Im not too impressed with either of the local dealers they did not explain anything to me other than to tell me that 'parts were on order' and "I think they just need to wash the turbo or they need a special tool to do that and they have to order it' What I can gather from reading about 2262 and 226b is that Im in for a new turbo and maybe a new dpf?

    Thanks, Semper Fi!

Mullenax, I need to install a EGT probe and would like to put it before the turbo. Do have the wisdom how to get it done? I think it can be done by lowering the turbo about 3/8" then block the turbo inlet with shim material to keep the shavings out!
Drill and tap about 2" above the manifold outlet

The truck is 2009 2500 QC Long Bed.

Thanks for your reply on the Check Engine Light.
I was thinking of deleting it this AM but didn't get it done.
I entered it mostly to defend what Cummins and Dodge are trying to do in order to clean up emissions from Diesel engines. I was starting to think that what I wrote wasn't of interest to the site. My son is enrolled in Environmental Engineering this fall. He will be taking a greater interest in what work is involved for cleaner emissions.
    Thanks Mike

I have not installed any of the severe duty filter kits yet, I do have some reservations about the capibilities of this filter. I myself don't like the price and the installation procedures required to install the filter. I am trying to get my Dealer to order one for stock, I might get a chance to look at it then.

Mike have you installed any of these severe duty filter kits yet ? 6.7 or 5.9

and also do you have any in stock at the dealership?

    less than retail?

would a fleetguard or racor do the same thing and not jepardize the warranty?

    for less money.

would like a picture of this item to post on the forums as all this bad fuel storys are everywhere and need a prefilter setup on my truck
