Hello gtobey, I picked up a 300 watt pan heater which gets up to 190f at room temp. I shot the pan with a lazer temp reader and after 2 hours it was at 14f. That's a lot warmer than -30f. Man we have had a real cool winter with hardly a let up in the -30f stuff. I tried pouring 10w30 at -20f and after 1/2 hour 1/2 the oil was still in the container. I'll pick up some Mopar 15w40 and play with it. I want to see what the pan heater does to it in an open container. I want to see if it carbonizes the oil in any way and what it pours like at -35. I was going to go synthetic but it's 3 times the price for an oil change. I wasn't planning on driving the Cummins in this cold weather but 6 weeks of this cold, I do need to use it eventually LOL.
Thanks for any advice you have.
Cheers
Mike
