  • I was on 135Q's out of Mccoy AFB when they closed it in 72,moved us to pease AFB.spent a lot of time TDY with Beale crews back then,we were the only Q units for the SR-71,got out in 74.
    When and where were you a boomer? I worked AFCS (autopilot shop or "power steering") at Beale - early 70's - on the BUFFs and 135Q's and 135A's and R's at Castle AFB in the 80's.

    Good eye...Yep - The great C-97G, 0-2795. One of the most interesting and enjoyable airframes I worked on; one of three C-97s when I was stationed in Wiesbaden. They were a classic; the sounds of the 4 recips and squeal of the brakes. A sad day when the mission was tranferred to another aircraft type.
