    Cummins 600 early engine failure?

Well thanks for the information everyone. I thought that whole "buy back" issue was BS from the start. And I still think the new Dodge 3500 is the best looking truck on the road, with the most durable drivetrain, ... but ... I ordered an '05 Sierra 3500 crew cab 4x4. I think these two trucks...

    Cummins 600 early engine failure?

I could have sworn his lips were moving when he told me this. In fact, we were in his office pricing out a Sierra 3500 crew cab at the time, and he actually pulled up the Chrysler auction site on his computer and showed me one of the trucks being sold as a repaired "buy back" truck, and he says...

    Cummins 600 early engine failure?

The Jeep dealer in our town sells GM trucks instead of Dodge. Because of his Jeep dealership he watches the Chrysler dealer auctions every week to pick up used automobiles to sell at his dealership. And he tells me that there are 5 to 6 Cummins 600 powered Dodge trucks per week that are on the...

    Mud Flaps?

Who makes the best mud flaps for my '02 Ram 3500 4x4? I checked the links page and could not find a link to a website that used to be there for custom mud flaps. Does that person still make them? What is his web site URL? Thanks, MoparToYou

Once again BIG HONKIN air filter

I keep seeing lots of people working dilegently at ways to find a cooler air intake source; exhaust blankets, heat shields, psychottyesque systems, etc. But does anyone know if it makes one bit of difference to provide a cooler source of air to a turbocharged system with an intercooler? What...

    "MAKING" a dealer honor warranty...

The dealer is Tri State Motors, in Cedar City, Utah. They have a truly horrendous service dept. Oh, and I've installed somthing like a dozen or so lockers in various Jeeps and trucks over the years, and I've never had an axle seal leak because of a locker installation, exept with that Jeep...

    "MAKING" a dealer honor warranty...

You know, I went through water deeper than the body sides, and about six inches up onto the side of the hard top, with that '97 TJ while competing at Top Truck. And when we pulled the transmission after the event no water had gotten in through the vent tube. I figured I would never be in water...

    "MAKING" a dealer honor warranty...

Almost forgot one other "issue" with that first dealer. The Jeep had developed a leak that presented with a few drops of oil always being present at the base of the flex plate cover between the engine's oil pan and the auto transmission, when the Jeep was only a few days old. I had taken it to...

    "MAKING" a dealer honor warranty...

OF COURSE you slide the axle shaft out about 3" on each side when installing the locker, but the seal itself is NOT removed or replaced, and in no way should it be damaged by sliding the shaft out a few inches. And for what it's worth, early model '97 Wranglers with the Dana 44 axle had frequent...

    "MAKING" a dealer honor warranty...

Back in '97 I owned a '97 Jeep Wrangler, in which I changed the axle ratio from the stock 3. 73:1 to 4. 10:1, and I also installed a Detroit Locker in both differentials. My rear axle's outer axle seal started leaking a few months later, so I took it to the dealer to have it fixed under...

1000 miles and mileage is getting better

Wish I could say the same Ray, looks like you're getting pretty decent mileage with your new truck. I have not noticed an improvement in fuel mileage with my truck, which now has 1,100 miles on the odometer. This picture shows the trailer I tow; with four ATVs inside it weighs 11,100 lbs...

    V10 Info

I would have to agree with Rusty. Not everyone puts 50K miles on their truck every year. We owned our '98 V-10 3500 4x4 for four years, and managed to accumulate a total of only 36,000 miles on it, of which 90% were accumulated while towing 9,000 to 11,000 lbs. We had no engine knock, no...

    V10 Info

I liked the power of the V-10 motor, which was much more instantaneous than the Cummins diesel. The turbo lag on the diesel takes some getting used to. I give the diesel motor full throttle and it just bogs for a few seconds, whereas the V-10 would be smoking the rear tires if I gave it full...

    V10 Info

I don't know what to think of some of the fuel mileage claims on this forum. I'm not saying they're, well, optimistic; just that I haven't been able to equal them. My V-10 Ram got 6 mpg towing the same trailer my Cummins Ram gets 8. 7 mpg with. That's right, 8. 7 mpg on two separate trips...

There's not enough H. in the O. of my Cummins H.O.

Dealer's report ... I had the truck checked over by the dealer's service dept. today, and here is what I was told: First of all, the truck passed the 0 to 60 mph acceleration test with flying colors. Apparently Chrysler has set parameters that each model of truck is supposed to be able to...

There's not enough H. in the O. of my Cummins H.O.

Update Just got back from the second towing trip with the new Cummins H. O. 3500 4x4. Fuel mileage remained dismal at 8. 7 mpg this trip. Towing power remains lower than expected as well, with one particular 10% grade forcing the truck to slow to just 30 mph, in 3rd gear, to climb the grade...

Axle Comparisons between 2500 Dodge & 350 CC Gas FORD

Very similar axles between those two trucks. Both of them have a high pinion Dana 60 front axle. The Dodge will have either a Dana 70 or Dana 80 rear axle, depending on engine and transmission choices. The Ford will have an Eaton (sp?) 10 1/4" rear axle. So the rear axles will have ring gears...

Need some nice looking mud flaps, ... what's available?

I like the truck, and I'm getting more adjusted to it each time I drive it. For one thing, I have found that I don't listen to the radio anymore. I prefer to just leave the radio off so I can listen to the diesel motor instead. I also just read a post on this forum about someone that installed...

Need some nice looking mud flaps, ... what's available?

Thanks for the replies. It doesn't really look like there is a lot of choice on QUALITY mud flaps for these trucks. I had already e-mailed Jason Burton last night, and got a response from him this morning. I will likely get a set of mud flaps from Northwest Customs, although they sure are...

Need some nice looking mud flaps, ... what's available?

I've already looked in the links section of this website, but haven't found quite what I'm looking for. What I want is a set of front and rear mud flaps for a 3500 4x4 that have a chromed Cummins "C" in the middle and a chromed weight at the bottom of the mud flap. I would rather have a smooth...
