Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Need advise on machine work price and how far to go, restoring life to a 12 valve...

Block looks good, I have it all torn apart and cleaned up. It's looking like I am going to do the valves and put it back together. A compression test will confirm success. Thanks

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Can a 24 Valve head gasket be used on a 12 valve?

Just a question because of availability... ... Thanks

Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Need advise on machine work price and how far to go, restoring life to a 12 valve...

Sorry for the novel, but here's the background... Last year I began the project of collecting parts to do a cummins swap in my 91 chevy V30 dump. I purchased a 97 dodge 5 speed truck that was wrecked. The gear housing actually broke off in the accident, seperating the injection pump from the...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Any one have pics of Eagle Alloy 186's on a 2nd gen?

Are there any known issues(IE dana 80 drum clearance etc)? Do they stick out obnoxiously compared to stock? I am looking to continue running 285/75/16, is the 16x10 wheel a better choice than the 8' width? Any past experiences are appreciated. Thanks, mike

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) How do I lower the exhaust temps?

1200 isn't too bad if you are not going exceeding it. I would think you could do a little better than 27 lbs boost though. Setting your wastegate to kick in at say 32 may make enough difference. Just a thought. Good luck, Mike

Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) What is the best way to attach my engine spec plate to the new gear housing?

I know it's a dumb question, but epoxy doesn't seem like a good idea and normal rivets would mean drilling through the case. Where can I pick up the style rivets that were used originally? Thanks for the patience. Mike

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) I think I messed up.... Injection pump reinstall timing.....

Just a dumb thought, but why couldn't I use a magnetic base dial indicator to set the timing?

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) I think I messed up.... Injection pump reinstall timing.....

This is making the idea of welding my case back up seem like a good idea... . Oh well, looks like I am in the market for a snap on setup... ... Thanks,

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) I think I messed up.... Injection pump reinstall timing.....

sounds good, at least this will get me on the road for now until I pick up the timing tools. Thanks for the help!

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) I think I messed up.... Injection pump reinstall timing.....

So if nothing else, if I reinstall the pump using the pins, I should be able to get the truck to stock timing, correct?

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) I think I messed up.... Injection pump reinstall timing.....

Long story short, the KDP claimed another(I bought the truck with a broken gear housing). I am in the middle of replacing the housing. I did not lock the injection pump timing pin in place before removing the gear from the pump. Is this a problem? I was orignially under the impression that all...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Can I use a K&N filter cleaning kit on my AFE?

HAHA that's pretty funny. I didn't even think to look on AFE's site. I would love to know who sits around and dreams these stories up, especially when corporate is involved. Thanks!

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Can I use a K&N filter cleaning kit on my AFE?

I bought the K&N for my old truck and barely used it. It would be a shame to have to spend 25 bucks on an AFE cleaning kit if I don't need to. It's probably a dumb question, but there shouldn't be any major differences between the two besides oil color right? Thanks for the input. Mike

Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Stupid Fan clutch LFT Nut Frozen solid, need advise...

Stupid Fan clutch LHT Nut Frozen solid, need advise... Well the clutch is locked solid and driving me crazy on the highway. I have tried on three seperate ocasions to get the SOB off. I've tried everything I have found on TRD from the proper wrench, wrenchs on the 10 mm nuts to attempt to keep...

Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) cam gear removal and install, who has done it in the truck?

Just a bit of info... . Purchased the truck a couple months back for a good price. Had an oil leak, didn't know too much about the KDP at the time. Now that I have cleaned up the engine bay, it's become obvious the oil leak is worse than I had thought. I have not had the opportunity to tear into...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) fan clutch, I assume it shouldn't be locked solid...

This is obviously a dumb question, but I assume even a "severe duty" fan clutch wouldn't be locked solid, would it? With the engine luke warm, I can rotate the engine/slip the belt by pulling on the fan. I guess this explains why the only thing I hear at 80 mph in the truck is the fan being...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) #10 plate, slid backwards, will the clutch survive?

Thanks for the input guys. The truck is a 1997 with a 215 pump and 293K on it. It looks like the 10 plate will be on my xmas list... .

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) #10 plate, slid backwards, will the clutch survive?

Well it has obviously began..... Working on fixing the stupid stuff the truck needs and ordering up for the mods. The truck has a replacement clutch of unknown origin. I will be installing the gages this weekend. Next on my list is a 4" exhaust, some type of air intake, and a plate. I would like...

Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 97 temp sensor, best place to get one and how the heck do I get to it?

Heater will blow hot air. The previous owner told me the gauge started reading erratically and then just quit, so I am assuming the sender went bad. For all I know at this point the sensor is missing. . Any pointer on locating it, or photos would be great! Thanks, Mike One other thing, what...
