    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) air dog?

I removed the OEM filter can. It was easy to remove and I figured I might need to shove something down there at some point anyway.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) air dog?

I just got the Airdog 150 yesterday. I figured that my "wild hairs" would make me want lotsa ponies within a year or two. The draw straw was the biggest pain. The instructions are not very helpful because in all honesty, they can't really get ALL the fuel tank designs and play with them to...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) airtex lift pump questions

I too am having lift pump issues. I like the fact that the Walbro/Airtex seems to be a much better pump design(gearotor) than the Carter. I'm not looking to bomb my truck too much. I might get better injectors later this year but I don't tow anything. It's just a daily driver. I would love to...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Holley Blue relay

I'm installing a Holley Blue LP this weekend and was wondering if the relay everyone is using is the universal fuel pump relay from NAPA or something like it.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) VP44? codes 1688, 1689, 251, 252

Well it's done. I installed the new pump and everything pretty much went as the videos said they would. There is one small note to add. The new pump had an oil of some sort in it for storage I guess. When I took off the caps and rotated the new pump for the installation, I got oil on the truck...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) VP44? codes 1688, 1689, 251, 252

I was using PS Diesel Kleen for the longest time. I haven't bombed my truck and I don't tow anything and hardly ever haul stuff. This truck is a daily driver for me even though it's a dually. That may be the main reason it's lasted so long. VP44 life seems to vary with application. Tomorrow...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) NV4500 Reverse

It is now habit for me to shift into certain gears BEFORE I try the gear I really want, especially when it's cold. 3rd and 4th seem to be the easiest. Then I try to cycle through them to 5th to finally get to reverse. It's a pain, especially in a parking lot when people are waiting on you, but...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) VP44? codes 1688, 1689, 251, 252

Thanks for the tip! I was wondering about that because I read the same thing in the instructions on the MWFI site. I was also wondering about that sensor. Is it the CAM position sensor or the crankshaft position sensor? I remembering reading about both of them on my year model truck.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) No Throttle RESPONSE

This page helped me determine I need a new pump. If you scroll to the bottom, it can help you with the codes. Mine threw the 1688 and this page says that a 1688 ALWAYS means bad VP. My new VP is on the way. Good luck with your troubleshooting.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) VP44? codes 1688, 1689, 251, 252

I ordered the VP44 from mwfi. I guess I can start taking out the old VP44 and then wait till the new one arrives. I watched these videos so I think I can handle it. My only problem will be the cold weather. As far as codes are concerned, MWFI's site says . I'm content with this because of...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) VP44? codes 1688, 1689, 251, 252

Sorry for the slow reply. My internet at home is down. I don't tow anything and I hardly ever haul stuff so I can understand how I've gotten away with the original for so long. I do have fuel pressure after the filter. It's about 8. 5 psi. But when I step on the peddle, the poor truck just wants...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) VP44? codes 1688, 1689, 251, 252

Well, it finally happened to me I believe. I was driving down the road in McKinney and the dash lights came on. I immediately put it in neutral and tried to restart but it wouldn't. I coasted into a supermarket parking lot and MAN was that a hard steer with no power. I finally stopped and tried...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) + 148hp & 267tq from tapping the VP

What do you mean you "tapped" the pump wire? Do you mean with the Edge Comp on the IP or the LP?

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Pitman arm REFUSES to be separated from steering box

Removal: Well I did this job yesterday with the loan-a-tool puller from autozone. It took about 3 hours of pure hate trying to get that off. I read this thread and decided not to use a torch and I don't have a cutting wheel. I tried the "double hammer" approach but I couldn't get a clear shot...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 5.9l 24 valve timing gear housing guide pin

Here is an explanation of it on this page. It's for a 12V engine but this info applies to the 24V also. This page explains how to fix it. Ram Diesel KDP retainer

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) valve adjustment on 2002 24v

I could use those instructions also please. I'm going to order the gasket from Genos. That's the best price I've found so far. -- email address removed -- Thanks!

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) WIERD alternator/charging problem!

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Cavitation is NOT your VP-44's friend!

I had another thought that may or may not have been addressed already in this thread. The VP and the LP both use the fuel tank as a "cooler". If the tank gets low on fuel, there goes our fuel system cooler. Also, for the LP, if the bypass valve kicks in, then all it's doing is recirculating warm...
