It's appearing that the change in turbos might be causing the code. Is there any way to change the ecm programming to account for the new turbo? Obviously we want to keep all emissions equipment in tact so can this be done through emissions legal tuning if there is such a thing?

Could the drainback issue be caused by putting a crappy trans spin-on filter in there which might have a weak anti drainback valve in it? Maybe that's a stupid question but I have heard that some poorer filters either have no valve or a very weak one.

I've used WIX paper filters for almost the life of this truck...at 138K miles. I can't imagine that would be my issue but I guess it could be anything at this point. If it were, why would it only be while towing? I can mash it on the freeway on ramp and it runs great right now.

That's exactly my point in questioning whether the truck knows its being tested and switches to another "Cheater Software" to pass SMOG/Emissions/NOX and then switches back to it's "regularly scheduled programming" after the test. That is what they are saying to me anyway.
