    2001 Tappet Cover replacement

I know there are aftermarket billet covers out there. I saw them in my search for a gasket. The only thing I can think of to replace while you're apart is the usual intake horn, and plenum gasket. Also, check the torque on the injector crossover tubes while you have the lines off. Maybe even...

Ticking sound under acceleration, but only while in gear?

Nice, good job! Keep checkin em for the next 1000 miles or so til the gaskets find their sweet spot and you should be good to go.

Ticking sound under acceleration, but only while in gear?

Hey there, nice truck. I'm thinking exhaust leak. Are you running the stock exhaust manifold? They are prone to cracking after years of heat cycles etc.. And tend to crack on the underside of the manifold where you can't see it. Could possibly just be a loose manifold or turbo at the flange...

Excessive Oil Compsuption 5.9 24V Cummins

GAmes, think outside the box! An accumulation of bad "1/8" lines plus the 1/4 at the pump will cause issues. Lose the attitude bro. We're here to help not puff our chests.

    Upgraded radiator options

I would suggest staying with an OEM, two core, that your computer is "aware of", unless you tow ALOT! Ordering an aftermarket radiator from wherever, is a crapshoot. They are a delicate item that more than likely will suffer scars of transport I call it. Buy or order from your favorite local...

Excessive Oil Compsuption 5.9 24V Cummins

Tremendo, do a search here for vacuum leaks causing blowby here on the forum. There are threads for this particualar situation. I am with Boeing diesel, especially because I experienced this with my truck. Vacuum leaks cause an imbalace of vacuum/pressure causing excessive blowby. I noticed...

    Front Sway-bar question

Thanks, I was a little wobbly there, lol. Back to the coffee pot!

    Front Sway-bar question

For clarification, the HD's are 34mm, come with factory sway bars, and are also called camper-specials. Non-HD's, have 32mm front sway bars, no factory rear sway bar, or helper springs.

    Front Sway-bar question

Yes, the non-HD are 32mm. (trucks w/o the rear factory sway-bar), also called camper-specials.

    Front Sway-bar question

Prothane 4-1138. And you get 8, not 4 endlink bushings as previously posted, my bad.

    Front Sway-bar question

2500HD's are 34 mm. Amazon has Prothane polyurethane kit for $21, which includes 4 endlink bushings, and 2 bar bushings. Just did mine yesterday. Made a huge differenence over squishy Moogs.

    HP?

I have had great success with installing a Wicked Wheel 2 right after installing an upgraded Thoroughbred Diesel VP, Airdog, and RV275 injectors, all for towing a large fifth wheel. The trans has been upgraded internals and Hughes triple disc installed. This is a must for sure. I ran the...

    Engine Temp/Thermostat Question

I agree with Katoom. I live in upper cental Arizona at 5300 ft. A pretty mild and arid climate. It is a benefit here, yet may not be in a cooler and higher humidity levels. Although, it could be that higher humidity levels might exaggerate heat, what do you guys think? Also, could the lower...

    Engine Temp/Thermostat Question

My truck runs better on a 180, especially if you have a "power-adder". Have had no problems. And then, I took the advice of TDR and removed the radiator to clean all the "gunk" from the oil-catch can that had accumulated over the years. That made a huge difference, thus complimenting the 180...

Steering Frustration Continues (but getting closer)

Right on! And thanks for the pump recommendation.

Steering Frustration Continues (but getting closer)

I agree. And I figure that was the root cause of my issues. And after following the advice of our comrads, and links here at TDR. I found that heat, and the pumps just beat the sh!P out of the oil, causing cavitation, thus aeration. Once I added Lube Gard, (I mentioned dura lube in a...

Steering Frustration Continues (but getting closer)

Have you cleaned the filter/screen at the back and bottom, that is inside of the ps pump? Sounds like a low rpm flow problem which, if the screen is dirty, will affect the performance all around, mostly at idle. There is a link right here at TDR if you wish to spend the time. Also, synthetic...
