    Truck Died! Any Thoughts?

Hey everyone i really hope I'm posting in the right section. I have a 2500 Dodge ram 5.9L. Today at lunch i pulled into my work and then it just died and i had to start it back up to finish the turn. Then when i parked i turned her off and then back on to see if she would start and i got...

    Kill Switch

does anyone have a picture of what wire to tap into? like which wire is the starter solenoid?

    Kill Switch

my worry is doing something that is going to mess up or cause a fire lol that would not be good. so this is the layout i think im going to use if the switch can handle the load of the starter. Wire going to starter solenoid wire -- inline fuse (30amp) -- wire to switch -- SWITCH (rated 12V 25A)...

    Kill Switch

also thank you for the site it has a lot of info!

    Kill Switch

so the switch i have is rated 12V 25A do you think that would be fine? im not sure what the starters load is
  9. LivLogik

    Kill Switch

do you think that would work? i have a 30amp inline fuse.
  10. LivLogik

    Kill Switch

what if i have a inline fuse where it is wired like this ---> Wire going to starter solenoid wire -- inline fuse -- wire to switch -- SWITCH -- wire from switch -- the other end of the solenoid wire

    Kill Switch

It is sounding like the best place is to tap into the starter solenoid that way they cant even turn the engine over. does anyone have any suggestions what might be the best way to do this?
  12. LivLogik

    Kill Switch

lol if i had the funds i would find a way to do that! so do i need a relay? a video i saw they just slice into the solenoid wire and ran a wire to where their kill switch was then ran another line to the other end of the cut wire and then done.
  13. LivLogik

    Kill Switch

oh ok thank you. im trying to read it lol. so do i just need to cut the solenoid wire and then put in a switch ? Thats what it seems like then i just flip the switch on so it completes the circuit when i want it on.

    Kill Switch

haha that would be funny. Im just scared im going to mess up something i need some wiring diagram or something to figure out where and what wire to splice for the starter solenoid wire and the horn wire is that diagram for a 06 2500?
  15. LivLogik

    Kill Switch

hahaha the horn is already part of my plan. i thought about just going to do is tap into the starter solenoid wire and route the wire somewhere in the cab. I compiled a plan. And then tap into the horn so when the switch is on kill everytime they try to start it send power to the horn lol!

    Kill Switch

hmmm ok thanks!. what do you mean wire into the harness somewhere? which harness?
  17. LivLogik

    Kill Switch

Hey everyone there have been a lot of truck thefts around here and i was wondering how i can do my own kill switch. I am seeing a lot for gasoline cars but not very many for diesels. Im just wondering does anyone know how to install one and if so does anything feel like explaining where and what...
