    Turbo Whine

I am also new to the CTD world but I have heard mine spool up since day one. When the truck was stock the most I ever heard the turbo was when the brake applied, never really heard any other time. Now after some basic mods the turbo can be heard when ever the engine is under load and the turbo...

    Low Frequency Engine Whine

Start with the basics, check power steering fluid level, accessory belt condition and the pulleys. There are a couple idler pulleys with sealed bearings that can go bad and cause some noise. Hope that helps as a starter. Good luck

    No Feet Heat..What door?

According to HeaterTreater, mode door #2 controls the flow between the floor and windshield defrosters. I have the same issue and have been reluctant to change it since its one of the most difficult to change. I have a 2009 so i also have to check with them if the doors they sell will work, they...

    fuel pressure gauge on 07.5

I believe its the hose from the fuel filter with the quick disconnect fittings on each end. Its a hard plastic tube, you have to cut and splice in a fitting for the pressure sender. Another option is get a big line kit between the filter and pump that has provisions for a sending unit. The banjo...

Steering Wheel Not Returning To Center

My trucks steering wouldn't return to center as well, upper ball joint was frozen and completely rusted. A new set of dynatrac ball joints fixed the issue and the truck drives like new again. Hopefully for a long time with the cost of the joints!

    Ball Joints time...

I just did the DynaTrac joints. I had previously installed Carlis in a friends truck and decided to try the Dynatrac joints for myself, both are works of art as far as boll joints are concerned and i couldn't be happier with my choice. My friend is pretty happy with the Carli joints as well...

    04.5 steering gear

I had those exact same steering issues and symptoms, turned out to be an upper ball joint on the driver side that was seizing up after 70k miles. Was the steering like this before the front end work also?

    Shocks on National Backorder?

Personally, I would just change them to Bilsteins anyway. One of the best things I did to my truck, I used the yellow HD shocks.

Steering is tight, won't return to center

Thanks Bob4x4, your advice showed that I had a bad ball joint on the driver side. I had ordered new ball joints, track, and a steering box stabilizer during the week and this weekend I changed out and added the new parts. The Passenger side upper ball joint had some side to side play but...

Steering is tight, won't return to center

I have checked the power steering fluid and there are no whines from the pump or noises at all from the front end when turning. There is nothing out of the ordinary other than the steering not returning to center and having to fight to keep the wheel centered until I hit a bump and then it...

Steering is tight, won't return to center

Good afternoon all, I am noticing that I have to return my steering wheel to center manually lately on my truck and I also feel like the steering is not finding center correctly even when I try to drive straight. For example I go around a turn in the road and when I come out of the turn I need...

    Transmission? Help!

Did one of the filters come loose? Only way to check is to drop the trans pan but if the trans was fine then you did the service and now a few thousand later its not working I would look at the filters first. The spin on filter has an issue with the plastic nipple breaking if the filter is over...

Here we go again. Blend door.

I have the exact same problem and I have assumed it was the blend door issue. I am out of warranty so its all on me and its to cold out to work in the driveway. I have been looking at the heater treater option but I didn't see 2009 listed on the site the last time I was there. Post your...

    Average MPG

Whats your driving cycle like? That can impact your mpg. I drive a mix of highway and back road, 60/40% split and I average 16 in the winter and 17-18 in the summer. Those are hand calculated numbers since the overhead is usually 1-2 mpg higher. My truck is stock as well, the only thing I...

    Michelin LTX M/S 2 Tires

I replaced my LTX AS (OEM) at 65k(could have gone farther but winter was coming) with LTX MS2 and I find them to be great a tire. Definitely a few steps over the LTX AS I had before, no wheel spin in the rain anymore, excellent traction in the snow and very stable when towing, no road noise at...

    Doing EGR Service Myself

I just finished cleaning my EGR cooler this weekend. I also used the genos kit and simple green, diluted about 50%. The instructions were excellent and it was easy to do. I also cleaned out the air horn and throttle control blade on the end of the air horn. There was a pretty decent layer of...

The importance of using a paper air filter

It took the dealer to sell me an air filter to screw me! I generally don't bring the truck to the dealer unless it warranty work, the rest I do myself. The only filters the truck has seen since new has been fleetguard, this one air filter was the only time I used a dealer filter. But that pic...

The importance of using a paper air filter

If that is the case, I now have lost some of my trust for the dealer. Thanks for all your efforts and information. From this point forward if I go to the dealer and if I don't see the orange and the flow rating I will not accept the filter. I can only assume the dealer is pulling a fast one on...

The importance of using a paper air filter

I agree that we should all do our homework. I am very glad Bob did his home work and looked around to see what he could find. I have a hard time with the fact that so much stuff is made in china these days simply because the quality is not there. Maybe some day it will but for now its just not...
