Alarming rattle can noise from under truck

Updates, the yoke still leaks, but even over 150k later the diff and trans have never been low at service time. And my under side in that area is rust proof lol. Trans is still holding well. I noticed some every so slight shift flares on our last 18hr tow, admitted we were using 6th a lot more...

    6.7 Cummins oil pan removal

my 08 was a PITA. I had the trans off for other reasons and tried to do the pan but it would clear the pickup. Since I didn't have a engine hoist, I couldn't really jack it up without the trans hooked up for stability. I found it easier to put the trans back on (3rd leg), then loosen the mounts...

Alarming rattle can noise from under truck

Umm actually no, I don’t have a plug or dimple on mine. But not that I’m really looking at it, it goes look like that’s where it’s leaking from. How weird. You would think that price would be solid not two part.

Alarming rattle can noise from under truck

ohh that sounds easy enough, I saw someone mention a plug before but I could not see one in there.. ill have to go take a better look. and yea, the seal a boot are nice and clean now but there is still ATF spun all over the place. Update: Yea man, there is a little dimple in there, I had no...

    Missed the EGR Cooler Cleaning

yea if you are emissions intact (stock) you really do want to do those services on time and all of it. These trucks get a bad wrap because people skip them and then wonder why they have issues. The cooler needs to be cleaned for sure. I would say do it as soon as you can, but done weat about it...

Alarming rattle can noise from under truck

update on this. It's been a while, I have since towed my 5th wheel for about 70-80 hours across a hand full of trips, no issues! The truck has been pulling great, trans feels as good as new. Including my wife towing WOT passing rigs like their standing still. I did apparently break one trans...

    Smarty Jr 6.7 EGR Question

Hey thanks for the info, but I'm good. Im over the idea, it didn't last long haha. I will just keep it all removed. Not sure what I was thinking.

    Smarty Jr 6.7 EGR Question

Turbo > Downpipe/Cat > Straight pipe > Stock tiny muffler. Im am looking into repalcing the stock muffler with something bigger, or stacking a second on in front of the stock one. As for the smell, it smells like exhaust, like the older trucks (as expected), what I miss sometimes is never...

Upgrade to newer SCR/DEF emissions for a Gen 3 LNT (non-DEF) engine?

yup RaceMe is the overseas version, although best I can tell the tunes are still older form 2014 at the latest. Theres already a CAT in the downpipe too.

    Smarty Jr 6.7 EGR Question

yea even then, most (all?) of the guys doing that stuff really only mess with 2013+ trucks at this point. It's no big deal, I'm looking into mufflers and keep it fully deleted instead. It's not worth the headache. I hate myself for even thinking this, but I have seen a semi gutted DFP/NOX and...

    Smarty Jr 6.7 EGR Question

FYI I confirmed no, the emission compliant tuning does not disable the EGR or command it to Zero.

Upgrade to newer SCR/DEF emissions for a Gen 3 LNT (non-DEF) engine?

That looks great, I’m running the stock cat and muffler too. I might have to try a muffler in between the cat and stock muffler sometime. As for the smarty, no support, not that it’s really needed. But really you have the ideal setup with efi live for sure. I’m just saying if someone is in a...

Upgrade to newer SCR/DEF emissions for a Gen 3 LNT (non-DEF) engine?

$80-100 delete pipe to swap the dpf and nox cans out and a used $250-300 Smarty Jr ME. You could even toss in a egr delete kit for $20 if you feel you really need to remove the egr parts (vs disable with tuner and unplugging). That’s all you actually “need” and if your not looking for more power...

    Smarty Jr 6.7 EGR Question

Does anyone know ls if the latest Smarty Jr (j-67) update for the emission compliant tunes (not ME) does anything to the EGR system? Like command it to zero it anything. Effectively letting you to keep the dpf intact and active regen process (when/if needed) but never use EGR, without unplugging...

Mini Maxx tuner no boost and lightning bolt

Curious, did you use Cummins OEM crankshaft position sensors? I have had bad sensors out of the box with parts store china brands. I always buy sensors for the engine itself directly form a Cummins store. it might also be worth reloading your tune.

    Mini maxx

The mini maxx itself is a tuner and a digital gauges. The tunes are loaded into the truck ECU, so even when the mini maxx is unplugged the tunes are still loaded and functioning. If the mini maxx died (seems like they often do at this age) you basically cant use it to adjust tunes anymore or as...

Upgrade to newer SCR/DEF emissions for a Gen 3 LNT (non-DEF) engine?

Deleting is still very very easy to do on these 07.5-12 trucks, and overall the best option. Not sure why anyone would spend more money to put on a new emissions system. not to mention it would still fair in states like CA to do smog checking since its modified. Not sure why you think its harder...

    Alternator cycling

Oh crap I totally forgot about the grid heater is kicking on when it’s cold, I was just thinking alternator . it’s not doing it doing it right now at all driving home. We just moved here I’m Not used to being in Weather below 50, let alone 26* in the am. Truck does all kinds of new things haha.

    Alternator cycling

Hey guys, this might just be how cold it’s been lately, but I noticed my alternator seems to be cycling on and off frequently when idle. I can’t say that’s I have even noticed it before, hence why I’m asking about it. I also notice a little rpm jerk when it does normal? I need to pay more...
