Final outcome. transmission pump was leaking, metal shavings throughout system, bands scorched, so I have been running a little hot. Complete rebuild underway and replacing the Torque Convertor as well. I think I will put on the deeper pan and a transmission temp gage after this.
Hi John,
I put about 25k a year on the truck, so I get the transmission serviced every summer. They pull the pan, replace the fluid, filter and adjust the bands. So I have around 5 months on the last service.
I will take it in as soon as I get back to Spokane.
Thanks for the input.
Joe
If I am on a slight incline or flat, I can feather the throttle, get it into second and then from there it is not problem from that point. Any significant incline and I am stuck in first.
Driving on slick roads going in and out of 4WD as needed. Noticed when I got to work and making tight turns the steering still has the knuckle bind as if I am in 4WD, but I am definitely not due to real wheels spinning.
Any thoughts on what might be happening?
2001 2500 with 220k miles...
01 4x4 Quad Cab, Auto, 202K+, lost first lift pump at 50k, second at 120k. At that time i complained and Dodge paid labor to place the pump in the fuel tank. Just had the front end rebuilt. Still running strong.
When I referred to my 01 having full time 4wd, I was referring to the fact there are no hubs to turn in, so the front running gear turns all the time when I am rolling down the road. As stated before this truck is getting ready to turn over 200k miles and not a problem at all with any of those...
If you are caravaning with someone, a cheap, simple option is to use those little walkie talkie radios from Motorola. They work well and do not cross talk at all with the CB.
01' QC, 4x4, 2500 199,500 miles
2 lift pumps before I hit 100k. Had the dealer move it to the fuel tank on the second failure. I got Dodge to pay 50% due to their loosy design. No problems after that.
Just last week had the front end rebuilt.
Great truck. I have abused the grap out of...
Thanks for the response and explanation. I too use my mine as well and (knock on wood) I have never had any issues. Sometimes when I am already stuck in 2wd, getting it in is a little tough, but when it is in, there is no question it is in. My daughter has a Ford with this switch and she has had...
Still driving a 2001, QC, 4x4, 2500 with auto I have owned sense new. Getting ready this next week to roll over 200K.
I see the new trucks have a switch to select 4h and 4L. Are the new trucks still full time fwd? Or is that electronic switch on the dash turning in hubs vs engaging the...
I had the same problem towing a light boat at 90 degrees or better. Looking between the front of the radiator and the trans cooler the front of the radiator looked like it was covered in fuzz. I spread degreaser on, left it for 20 minutes, then taking a car washing attachment that where the end...
