2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Truck stops, but only when brake pedal goes all the way to the floor

I tried searching the archives but didn't really find anything related to my symptoms. My 98 work truck will stop, but the pedal goes all the way to the floor and the braking only happens at the end of the travel. I looked under the hood and noticed the fluid was low and I topped it off, but...

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Tires for 17" 3rd Gen wheels

i like my 17" wheels as well. since i have a 4X4 with a 2" lift in the front, the slightly bigger wheels make them feel more proportionate to the truck. the 16" oems always felt small. so with the 285/75R17 on my stock hubs i shouldn't need any backspacing or anything? just plug and play?

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Tires for 17" 3rd Gen wheels

hi guys i'd found a set of takeoffs from a 3rd gen on craigslist for a great deal with BFG AT's 315/70R17. i had to tack weld a bolt to the steering stops to reduce the steering radius a bit because i was having issues with the tires rubbing. that worked great but i'm getting tired of...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Intermittent wipers not working

I did a search but didn't find much on this topic related a 95. Hi/lo wipers work fine, and no other electrical issues. The intermittent function just up and quit working one day. We're headed into rainy season here in N. California and I don't want to be the intermittent function myself all...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 3rd Gen camper shell on my 2nd Gen?

thanks for the offer, harvey. if only i lived closer to you... i am in the san francisco bay area. so the shell couldn't be tweaked a little to fit? i think the one i have on there now that i want to replace with a newer one is for a standard square bed as i need to push the end in an inch or...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 3rd Gen camper shell on my 2nd Gen?

are the beds very different sizes so that a shell that fit on a 3rd gen wouldn't fit on my 2nd gen? both are longbed, for what it's worth.

sorry to have missed that detail; it is for the 95. also, what about 3rd gen bed size? same as 2nd gen?

Voltage gauge jumping around - Charging system

Hey guys - back again! Same issue, it resolved itself last time and the truck had been running just fine for the past year +, but has resurfaced. So basically the issue is the voltage gauge shows the alternator sometimes charging sometimes not. I can see when it's charging when the needle sits...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 3rd Gen wheels with 36" tires too big??

how could i gain the offset? the other thing i'm considering doing is having a friend tack weld a curved/bent plate to the bar where the tire rubs against (sorry, don't know what it's called... ) that way it'll just rub against the flat surface of the plate without the big square tread on the...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 3rd Gen wheels with 36" tires too big??

Hi guys Needed some new tires and ended up finding a great deal on a set of wheels from a 2007. 5 that the guy swapped out for some 20" rims. The tires are almost new BFGs ATs. The issue I'm having is at the very end of the turning radius the tire tread catches and rubs against the front end...

Painting my truck - looking for help with beige color code

Hi guys I've got a 2nd gen. two-tone, forest green/silver that I will be repainting due to faded clearcoat on the hood and cab roof. I am wanting to change the color to a beige that I saw on a 3rd gen. and wondering if someone could give me a color code? The 2nd gens had more of a gold, or...

Truck died on freeway - makes no sense...

oops... . After doing lots more reading on the FSS, I discovered that I have actually hacked the plunger off my ksb solenod, dummy that I am. I kind of thought the location was wrong as the access was a little too easy, but the description matched and there was a spade terminal and I thought...

Truck died on freeway - makes no sense...

thanks for the reply... sorry if i'm being a little thick-headed i pulled the whole assembly out and i actually cut off the plunger just below the rubber head at the short pushrod which is inside the solenoid. so what i pulled out was a fat cylindrical piece with the spade terminal on one end...

Truck died on freeway - makes no sense...

the last post helped ease my mind and I checked the fuel shutoff solenoid with 12V straight from the battery. Got no click, so encouraged that I might not be in there most of the workday I pulled the solenoid body from the assembly (the part the wire plugs onto). I was going to pull the spring...
