    HELP! Trans Gurus!

I think I finally got the cable adjusted where it does best. Guess I should hook up trailer to test it with a load.

    HELP! Trans Gurus!

Thanks guys. It really helps y'all telling me which way to start out. Re-adjusted the cable and I'll see how that works.

    HELP! Trans Gurus!

Did a little testing on the way home from work today. At WOT shifts fine 1-2 but won't shift 2-3 until I let off a touch. Which way should I turn?

    HELP! Trans Gurus!

Mine is not repetitive. It only does this downshift one time at about 30mph. The conditions have to be just right to make this happen. I will try the TV cable adjustment. The only thing I remember was that last time i did this, I spent HOURS trying to get it right.

    HELP! Trans Gurus!

So I should adjust the cable so it shifts 2-3 at 2800rpm at full throttle?

    HELP! Trans Gurus!

I didn't change the TV cable adjustment. The transmission still shifts at the very same points. If the TV adjustment was off now, wouldn't that have changed?

    HELP! Trans Gurus!

Darn it!!! All that work and parts and now under light throttle between 30-40mph it downshifts some times. Didn't do that before. Everything else seems fine. Shifts great under acceleration.

    HELP! Trans Gurus!

Got it back together today. New snap rings, frictions, and steels in the overdrive. Replaced OD solenoid, Transducer, GM solenoid setup, billet front servo, and band strut. Made a short test drive and everything seems good. Thanks to everyone for the info and talking me through it. Oh, I did it...

    HELP! Trans Gurus!

Got it out and apart. The snap ring was in 6 pieces, but all parts are accounted for. The OD Clutch pack (6 and 6) looks pretty worn, but the OD/Direct Clutch (11 and 12 single sided) pack looks great. Everything else looks good as far as I can tell. Anyone know what the replacement part numbers...

    HELP! Trans Gurus!

Thanks. Should I go ahead and replace all the frictions and steels in the OD unit while it's out? After all, the truck has 306,000 miles on it.

    HELP! Trans Gurus!

While the pan is off and the OD unit removed what should I do to improve trans durability?

    HELP! Trans Gurus!

Thanks. I saw that same page about 5 minutes ago. From looking at the manual, I should be able to remove the OD unit with the trans in the truck and replace the snap ring if nothing else is damaged?

    HELP! Trans Gurus!

Lately, my 2004 48RE has been acting up. While driving at a steady freeway speed, 60-70mph, the trans acts like it "skips" or unlocks the converter for less than a second. It happens so fast, it's hard to nail down. Sometimes once or twice in a 45 minute drive, sometimes 20-30 times in the same...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Megacab Fenders on 2nd Gen?

Converting my 94 2500 to 17" DRW and am trying to decide on rear fenders. I saw a picture of a 2nd gen truck with 3rd gen Megacab rear fenders on it, but can't find any info on what had to be done. I'm sure there was some mods to the fenders involved. Anyone try this or know what all it involves...

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 19.5" Wheels on 94 2WD

Yes, I finally gave up looking and found a cheap set of 3rd gen aluminum 17" wheels and tires. Looks and drives pretty darn good.

South Bend Double Disk Clutch Giveaway (Contest Ends: August 31, 2010)

I think I should win the clutch for my 1994 12 valve since I've spent all of my money restoring my truck and still need a clutch.

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission questions about steering boxes

I replaced mine with a box from Redhead Steering and the results are great! I'm very happy. Now time for ball joints.

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Steering Braces

What is the difference in a steering brace for a 4WD and a 2WD 1994 Ram 2500? Aren't the steering boxes and the frames the same?
