2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Axle gearing for towing

I'm looking at getting a small (10K GVW) 5th wheel and have a Diesel/4x4/RE-47/3.54 drivetrain. According to my trailer guide the GCWR is 16,000 and going to 4.10 gears bumps that to 19,000. Living in BC it's all about mountain driving so I already spend a lot of time in third and second with a...

Not liking the new 2nd Generation forum

It's the long coloured hard to read prefixes in the titles that I don't like. Putting "12 Valve Engine and Transmission (1994 - 1998)" in the title is an unnecessary distraction and the colour choices are hard to read. You could shorten the prefixes to "12V", "24V" and "Body". I think we all...

    Where's the search?

There's a top level search [all forums] and an advanced search forums (where I can set all sorts of criteria) but the simple search this forum is missing. If I'm in a forum then I'd like to easily search the forum.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) My VP-44 Adventure

Last year I started getting a dead pedal and, checking the codes, a P0216. The power went away and came back a few seconds later. It would happen once or twice on a five hour trip. The fuel pressure on my Edge showed 10 - 15 PSI so it was getting fuel. I parked the truck over Winter and this...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Limp mode fun plus codes P0216 & P0237

I searched here and the Internet and didn't find a good explanation. Last month on the way to a friends cabin I had a few seconds of reduced fueling -- not really a dead pedal; just no power. The power came back and no check engine light so I ignored it. No further issues driving up and back...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Performance mods for my '02

I assume that people like Joe Donnelly and others went through all the performance mods and did some dyno testing for the 24V/VP44 engine. That would be back around 2000 which predates the digital archive and search engine here. Are there any links back in time to the old articles and tests?

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2010: How many miles on your 24V?

Since the other poll started in 2001 it's time for an update. All the 24V trucks are at least 8 years old now. How's your truck holding up?

    Can't read some [older] threads

Writers include links to other TDR threads (e. g. Modifying Fuel System) that will open in GUEST view. So I can't read the thread since guests can't view older threads. It turns out that the above example goes to turbodieselregister.com. If I change the link to www.turbodieselregister.com...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Looking for an anti-gell additive

Around here -- Greater Vancouver -- the Winters are mild and fuel stations almost never switch to a Winter blend so I'd like to add a little something to the tank. Temperatures could bottom out at -10C (14F) but a mountain drive could drop to -20C (-4F). What's good?

    Steal this truck!

3G Dodge RAMs seem to make the top 10 list of stolen vehicles every year. I was under the impression that factory immobilizers were secure and standard equipment these days. Am I deluding mysef? BTW, it's the only late model vehicle on the list. Do the pros have a way to bypass the...
