converting a 1st gen club cab to a crew cab shorty

Has anyone used their 1st gen club cab chassis/running gear and swapped on a crew cab & shortbox? I have seen pics of it done once or twice. I am really wanting to do the same thing and would like to talk with someone who has first hand knowledge of the conversion. I specifically would like to...

Who has gone from a Hughes to a top-end torque converter?

I could be mistaken, but I thought I remember someone on TDR running a Hughes Converter and then later going to a DTT or Goerend. I honestly want to hear a "real-world" story on someone who started with a stock converter, went to a Hughes, and then swapped in one of the big 3 (DTT, Suncoast...

    Piston lift pump conversion

I am looking to convert my lift pump from a diaphram style to a piston design (seen on 2nd gen 12V's). Has anyone else done this conversion to their 1st gen? I currently have a high pressure piston lift pump and looking to convert it to a low pressure pump (needed for the VE equipped 12V's)...

    club cab rear bench conversion

I was wondering if anyone on here has a mini bench seat in the back of their club cab. I have been given a 1980-something Ford F250 rear bench seat and wanted to know if anyone has fabbed a way to make one of these seats work?

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Advantages of a 2nd gen..........

Hello! I have been a TDR member for about a year now. My 1st diesel (currently my rig) is a 1993 generation 1. I have the non-lockup automatic that comes stock on these rigs. I have been relatively pleased with my 1st gen, but just recently it has let me down! I towed my 24ft 5th wheel trailer...

Anyone pulling a travel trailer with a 89-93 1st gen?

I would like to see some picture examples of 89-93 Dodges pulling 5th wheels and bumper pull trailers. Gathering ideas... ... ... ... .

Painting the walls of your travel trailer............

I assume this is not very common practice, but has anyone changed the color of their RV/trailer interior walls? The walls inside my 98' 5th wheeler are not very eye appealing and the decor is being changed soon. What kind of paint should a person use to change wall colors? I want something that...

Questions about dealer-installed aux. transmission cooler

How many 1st gen owners out there have them? What are your opinions about them? These auxilary coolers were installed under the driver's side bed and were wired to come on when a thermal switch closed. I have one on my 93' W250 and want to know how to properly wire in a manual toggle...

1st gen bed rail caps, where can I still get them?

Years ago, many companies in the aftermarket relm offered some bed rail caps for older body style Dodges, Chevys, and Fords. I have looked around for a company that sells a complete set (2 side rails, front of bed, and tailgate)... ... ... no luck. All I seem to find is the 2 side rails being...

Questions about my KIT Companion 5th Wheeler

I bought a used 1998 23ft Kit Companion 5th Wheeler just a few months ago. Does anyone know much about this brand of trailer? I researched online and found that Kit has been around since the 1940's and recently was taken over by Extreme RV. I believe these trailers are built in Caldwell, ID...

5th wheel to gooseneck adapter.......need advice

I currently have a nice gooseneck ball installed in the bed of my 93' Dodge Ram W250. This gooseneck hitch is the "flip-down" style, which makes the bed flush when not in use. (not to be confused with the B&W turnover ball). My questions is: I really would like to use my gooseneck hitch and...

2.5" front suspension lift..........now to press on.

Ok folks, I finally did it! I went to my local spring company and had them overhaul my front leaf springs. Upon initial inspection, we found that all the spring bushings were shot and one of the hangers was in need of repair. Long story short & 4 hours later... ... ... ... . I got 2. 5"...

Mud Flap bracket idea for SRW pickups

This Christmas I recieved a set of mud flaps as a gift. The flaps are the fancy plastic ones with polished stainless strips at the bottom. I have been brain-storming over how to mount these mud flaps. I want them to hang 90* from the ground and not contour to the fenderwell like most pickups do...

    Steering Issues

I bought my 93' CTD 4x4 back in the summer of 07'. Since purchasing it, my steering has been really sloppy with lots of play. I dare not drive through the mud/snow with only one hand on the wheel. The pickup has 204K for miles and nothing has been replaced up front except for front axle...

    Factory Replacement Shocks

I own a 1993 W250 club cab. I am looking for factory replacement shocks. I have a great "inside" source for getting Bilstein shocks. Can I still get the traditional Yellow/Blue shocks? I heard that they are no longer available for 1st gen pickups. Does anyone have part#'s to 1st gen 4x4 shocks...
