    Where do they go?

When a presidential “beast” or “the tank” or whatever they’re being called lately hits the end of its service life, does it get stripped of sensitive equipment and auctioned off? Or, do the power modifications render them EPA ineligible, and get scrapped?

    What are these holes for?

the two square and notched circle have me curious. What optional piece of equipment goes there?

Thermostat question for you modern people

First, before we go any farther, I’m old. I’m of the generation when an engine’s operating temp was 180*F. Period. It seems that Shiny’s little 3L EcoDiesel has a 200* tstat. When the OEM stat finally goes, would it be terrible to replace it with a 180, or will the computer hate it?

    Hey, y’all I’ve got a question.

How do I determine my axle ratio on this little truck? There’s two choices and I don’t know which I’ve got. embedded in the VIN or do I need to crawl my fat arthritic ass under to look at a small piece of aluminum?

    Want a set of mirrors?

I upgraded from the OEMs to an aftermarket set of “golf club” style. Now I have a fairly minty set of heated electrics with the chrome (2016 Laramie package) and a set of extenders that I no longer need. If any of you have smacked a tree or a road-cone, let me know. Whole set out outbound...

    Might be overthinking.

Howdy! Getting a truck camper for Shiny. Its footprint is 6’6” so, my 5’7” bed will require tailgate-down to carry. If I’m also towing the travel trailer, I’m going to need an extended drawbar (1&1/2-2ft) to clear the tailgate. The travel trailer’s tongue weight is estimated @370lb. Would...

    Left turn signal fast (intermittent)

Howdy, everybody. For the last couple of months my left rear signal has had spells where it would cycle fast. 2016 1500 Laramie with LED signals. When it’s working correctly, all 15 red LEDs illuminate. When it cycles fast, one column of 5 stays dark while only 10 light up. It’s a...

any input for replacement front bumper?

Haven't ever hit a deer, but, they're out there just waiting for the right moment. Any of you got suggestions for a HD replacement with grille guard? I've had Ranch Hand on the big truck (Tiny) since appx 2007, and, just like folks warned me at the time, it's got rust. The little 1500 isn't...

    BHAF, 2016 edition.

Got a cold-air intake and dry-paper style filter from S&B. cooldown EGT seems a bit quicker, as monitored on my scan tool and phone display. 24524B23-A0D5-4DCD-A00F-50FB77A965A0 by rMetzger posted Jul 6, 2019 at 10:59 PM

Looking to go to Kahr .380....

....to replace/upgrade from my little NAA .22WMR 5-shot revolver. Their P-380 is $150-200 more expensive than their CW380. I like my CW9, A LOT, but even that Gun is a little bit bulky for the warm-weather clothes we use in Texas, so, I like the familiarity. Any of you shot the two...

    Who remembers HVAC?

Was just thinking of Nowell and his little red drug addicted 24-v hot rod.

    Built-in trailer brakes?

in my manual, there are some ram1500 packages that had trailer brakes already installed from the factory. Anyone know whether they’re good or is aftermarket (UHaul/Reese, etc) better? I asked at the local dealership if there was a retrofit dealer install FCA OEM kit that would sit right in the...

call me a code-clear virgin, until 3 hours ago....

Check engine light came on. Scanned with my code-reader doohickey that I've mentioned in other threads. Looked up code on internet (P24AE: most of the mentions were particulate-filter related) Drove a few decent highway miles from Keller to Lewisville, cleared code. Went inside to eat. Came back...

    Cold air intake

worth it to have pre-shutdown EGTs come down faster, or does the exhaust complexity just not really allow the temps to drop anyway?

    Neutral or Park?

Howdy! New to the 8-speed. At a long red light, slow-moving burger lane, or waiting for wife to get off work, what’s the best transmission position for idling? With the old Dodge trannies it was neutral, and some of the Ford guys’ slushboxes actually preferred Park. What about this one?

    Shut-down EGT?

Howdy, all. I’ve still got my early-98 12-valve, with Isspro boost and post-turbo pyrometer. Shutdown @ or below 300*F. Simple analog stuff. I now have a 2016 ED, and everything is digital. Very, very digital. I’ve got a little transmitter plugged into the OBD port that eavesdrops on the...

Why is there a picture of a firestorm on my dashboard?

Howdy, everybody! Been gone a while and in the meantime I’ve gotten hold of a 2016 EcoDiesel. On startup, it’ll cycle thru all the reboot stuff, and sometimes, right after the glow plug light extinguishes, there’s another pic that follows. It looks like fuel spray, or a small fire, and goes...

Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) BD brake switch vibrates and buzzes

Howdy, all! When my automatic was swapped out in favor of the G-56, we also moved the exhaust-brake master switch from the column to the gear-shift lever, using the big switch that they sell...

Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) OK, does it need any lubing?

Just had a 3-piece exhaust installed. The TAP-TAP-TAP! noise of the previous leaky manifold is gone, presumably forever. WooHoo! 2 questions: Ought I have the bolts all retorqued after a few weeks (they used a good amount of orange silicone sealant, so I don't foresee any backing-out) and...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) How long did your fuel-guage sender fix last?

OK, did the pen-spring "BOMB" on my fuel-guage sender quite some time ago. 10-12 years, possibly. Here lately, it's been doing that same annoying inconsistent read thing. Any of you other old-timers had yours fail, yet?
