    K&N Air filter

Did I read correctly in the last Turbo Diesel Magazine, that if I install an after marked air filter like a K&N that it could void the warranty? I thought I read that if you install one that the dealership could argue that I messed it up if something goes wrong in the engine? That seems absurd...

    Not shifting to overdrive?

My 2010 is intermittingly not shifting from 4th to 5th or 6th. It only happens in the morning when it's cold and then stops. I've had one new sensor installed because of this problem in the past. Of course the service area can't duplicate the issue! Am I missing something? There are no codes...

    EGT's and shut down

At what temperature is it safe to shut down the engine so the oil doesn't "cook" in the turbine? I have the EDGE gauge and I've been waiting for the EGT's to get below 450 degrees before shutting down.

    Egt

I bought an Edge CS to monitor my engine. I've made no changes to the engine, just interested in watching. I had a probe for EGT's installed too. Now I'm watching the numbers range from 800 to 1100 or 1200 (when pulling). At what temperature should I be concerned? I've asked this in another...

    Edge Insight Issues?

I bought a CS Insight to monitor engine activity. I can't get trans temp on the PID list. The engineers are supposed to be writing one. Anyone else have an issue?

    Edge cs

I bought an Edge monitor for my truck since it's not been "molested" but I stil wanted to monitor the activity, especially when towing. There isn't a listing on the monitor to choose boost or trans temp. I had the probe for EGT installed. There's supposed to be an update with the information to...

    Numbers again

Just curious. I notice the other truck makers listing tow ratings for conventional and 5th wheel as being different. Dodge doesn't. They have on listing which I believe to be conventional. Is there a formula of some sort that would convert the conventional to 5th wheel?

    Different hitch?

I'm currently using a slider hitch with my short bed Ram. It's a Reese. On a couple of occasions it didn't lock into place in the manuevering position. I'm thinking about getting a hitch that can adjust automatically. What would be a good brand? Do they work? Are they any more difficult to...

    Gauges revisited

I asked about getting gauges previously and had different answers. One suggested that if I haven't changed anything with the truck that I probably wouldn't need them. Another person thought that a red flag could go up to the local dealer who works on the truck if they see gauges. If I decide to...

    Helper springs

I currently am pulling a 40 foot fifth wheel with my 2500. It squats a little bit. I only pull around 5 times a year. Would you suggest a helper spring (extra leaf) or Sumo or something else?

    Gauges?

If you're not making any chip changes to the engine etc, is it important to have gauges, other than the factory ones, to monitor things like exhaust temperatures? I tow about three times a year. It's a fifth wheel that's 11,900 dry. I don't tow with tanks full other than propane.

Easy removal of 5th wheel hitch?

Does anyone know a quick way to remove a fifth wheel hitch so I can use the bed of the truck? I can't fit into the garage to use a hoist and I don't have any trees.

    2010 versus 2011

As far as I know, there wasn't any change to the powertrain or suspension between the two years so how come the 2011 2500 is rated to tow more than the 2010? Is it just a numbers game played by the manufacturers? I was also told that there wasn't any difference between the 3:73 and 4:10 rear...

    Seriously??

I was just looking at the Chevy website and noticed that they rate the HD 2500 Silverado with the GAS engine and 3:73 rears capable of towing 14,000 lbs but my 2010 Ram 2500 Diesel with 4:10 rears is only rated to pull 12,600?! I don't get it! Maybe I should trade? I know, not nice. What do...

    Sumo Springs

My 2500 squats a little bit when I'm pulling my fiver. It's not horrible but I'm thinking about putting something in the back to help out. I noticed that the bottom spring on the leaves is in the same shape as the others while towing and straight when not. I thought about air bags and one place...

    Air Bags

I'm not sure if I want them or not, BUT if I do, what kind should I get and who might install them near Lancaster, PA? I want them to balance the truck when I pull my fifth wheel. It doesn't squat that much but. .

    Newbie

Being a new diesel owner, what's a good additive for the fuel to keep water out and stop gelling?

    Seems Okay

I just picked up my 5th wheel on Saturday. It's a Forest River Sandpiper 340 RL. It's big! My Ram pulled it fine with only a slight sag in the back from hooking up. Trans temp never got over 149 and the truck pulled nicely at 65. I don't think I'll need air bags at this point, especially since...

    Buyer's Remorse?

I love my new truck, but... never owning a diesel before I'm wondering if I did the right thing. Now I have to worry about fuel gelling, whether or not I can use biodiesel, plugging it in during the winter and, if the fifth wheel that weighs 11,900 dry is too big for the truck! The RV was...

    Biodiesel

I don't know if I opened a can of worms or not, but last night I filled up with biodiesel for the first time. I'm being told that it will be a government mandated fact that biodiesel will be in all of the diesel fuel. I've also been told that biodiesel cleans the engine more? My truck only has...
