ECM controlled exhaust brake on 04.5 auto?

This is a follow up on another thread titled "ECM controlled exhaust brake on 05 auto". I separated it because mine is a 04.5. Years ago, the 48RE was rebuilt, Transgo valve body kit and a no name lower stall torque converter. I have been running a Pacbrake PRXB for many years but it only...

Exhaust brake problem heading out of Yosemite-handled

I was lucky to get my family together and spent a few days in Yosemite before Christmas. We were able to get a couple days hiking about eight miles each day. With a storm forecast coming in and not wanting to deal with potential snow or black ice in the early morning, we headed out just after...

    2004.5 electrical short found

Just passing this along in case it helps someone. I had an electrical short for some time and finally spent 3 hrs checking things over. Ended up disconnecting the radio and the short was gone. Turned out the stock radio had a cd stuck inside and it was stuck on eject. Success!

Rear Driveshaft too loose at transfer case entry?

After having the differential carrier bearings replaced (see other thread w/ that title) I have noticed a little vibration. Similar to what I had before in the other thread but much shorter in duration. 177k, stock suspension. Short bed, one piece driveshaft. Zero to 5 mph and turning, I get a...

Southeast Washington to Southern CA route suggestions?

Not a hauling, towing or RV trip, just flying there and driving home w/ my son this Friday and Saturday. We will be driving a stock 2007 Tacoma TRD 4x4 with new tires (Dodge is in the shop getting a Trutrac). I have been watching weather and looking at the Windy.com site for temperatures, rain...

    rear differential carrier bearings

175k on a 2004.5. Daily driver for first 13 years. Tows 10k fifth wheel occasionally. Changed rear diff fluid every 50k or so. Been hearing a low roaring sound that started 1 1/2 years ago. I threw some parts at it, because that is what I do sometimes..... Front wheel bearings and outer rear...

    Nice towing experience

Our trips seem to be yearly now due to the different directions we seem to be pulled. My oldest son is home from college for the summer and the whole family took a trip up to the Mammoth Lakes, CA area. These pics are from looking down from Duck Pass (10,700') and at Duck Lake. About a 5 hour...

    Lower steering shaft replacement?

I just returned from a 4000 mile roadtrip into the northwest. Prior to leaving I removed the big Mopar upgrade steering box because I was not impressed. I had Redhead rebuild my old 2012 Redhead box (smaller Mopar) I had on the shelf and mod the valve to make the steering easier. I replaced the...

    Complete axle 11.5 AAM 3.73

For sale: Complete rear axle from 2017 Ram 2500 SLT 6.4 liter. 11.5 AAM, 3.73. Truck was in my friend's shop for repair due to vehicle hitting right rear tire. Alignment issue-dog leg. The insurance authorized replacement of rear axle, done and problem still persisted. Axle is likely fine but no...

    48RE shifts too soon

Sorry if this has been answered before but I did search and could not find the exact situation. Truck is now my part time veh for towing 5th wheel, weekend duties. Running 255s which are about 32 3/4 tall, Smarty Jr on level 1, compensated for tire height. I recently (in the last month) noticed...

best price on Mopar steering pump?

I tried shopping around on line for the new Mopar steering pump. The prices are absolutely insane. Any suggestions on sources that don't have their pump priced in the stratosphere? thanks

Moog problem solver linkage- will 09 fit an 04?

My Mopar 09? upgraded T type suspension has really tight tie rod ends on both sides. Crazy tight and causes memory steer. I've had them in for at least a couple years and no improvement. I drilled them, added zerks and even spun the bolt around w/ a drill for a bit. No change. I have an 04...

Source for older RV window molding?

A while back, I saw a recommendation for a company that specializes in sourcing/making hard to find window moldings. What was the name of that company? A friend of mine has a 1950's bus converted to a motor home and needs to replace some of the window moldings. thanks in advance.

Rattle sound from engine under load

For some time now, occasionally when towing 10k up a hill at around 2300 rpm, I get a rattle sound from the engine (injectors?). It sounds similar to a locust where it comes in and goes away, especially if you let off the throttle and bring it down below 2,000 rpm. Truck has 155k, maybe 30k on...

correct part number for AC evaporator?

I searched to no avail. I have a 2004.5 and am going to have the HVAC doors(Heatertreater), evaporator and the leaking heater core replaced. I am gathering up the parts. I am having trouble with the OEM AC evaporator part number. Is it supposed to be 5140726AB or (superceded part number?)...

Asking for a friend. Friend needs to replace the truck bed on a 2004 dually. Will the bed from a 2007 dually fit? Will all the electrical connections plug and play? thanks, Tom

fuel leak at rail pressure relief valve

I've been trying to track down a slow fuel leak. I finally located it. At higher RPMs, it leaks slowly where it attaches to the fuel rail. It's on there pretty tight. 1. Are those washers one-time use only? 2. Where can a regular joe like me get replacement washers for the banjo at the top...

    PRXB exhaust brake on a 2004.5 48RE

Okay. I've read up on many threads reference this topic. This may seem like beating a dead horse so I will apologize up front. I am very serious about putting a PRXB on my 2004.5 48RE with a build date of 4/04. Stock power. The PRXB for my truck is C44052. The trans has been rebuilt 2 yrs ago...

    First gear slip 48RE

I searched and didn't find much that dealt with this in particular so here goes. Another transmission thread.... Occasionally, on takeoff, I have a slip in first gear. It only lasts about a second and goes away. Truck has 152k. Smarty Jr. on performance but Tq management on highest setting...

Smarty Jr torque and timing settings 5.14b 3rd gen

I apologize if this has been asked and answered. I have tried to search but I can't find a comprehensive answer. It seems to have changed from the previous program. It would be great if the setting description was listed in one place for torque and timing settings. I also looked on Mads website...
