    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) I have heard some rumors

If I keep my speed under 60 mph, I get 24-25 mpg empty. 70 mph only returns about 20 mpg. I've got more time than money so you can guess how fast I roll.

    Dexter EZ Flex Kit

India is very busy. I needed to replace a license plate light socket because it fell apart. I ordered everything from LMC. When I unpacked the parts, they all read "Made in India", including the parts with the genuine Mopar labels. I would think any savings in labor costs would be eaten up by...

Upgrading the manual locking tail gate.

Sounds just like the lock I purchased from Geno's awhile back.

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission front brake question

I had a similar issue on a '94 Jetta. Service manager recommended greasing the slides every 5,000 miles. I followed his advice and saved some money on brake replacements (after the first time!).

Hows does your 2wd CTD handle in the snow?

I run the stock tires and I get by in Wisconsin winters. 2WD most of the time; I use 4WD when I begin to have difficulty moving. I drive prudently for the conditions. Oh, I don't throw any extra weight into the bed, either. More weight just makes handling in slippery conditions worse.

    ATF questions

If you are completely emptying and refilling, I imagine the 48RE will take a similar amount to my 47RE: 17 quarts. Servicing is listed at 10. 5 quarts, I believe.

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission New Batteries

Replaced mine last week with a pair from Wally World. 3 year replacement warranty.

    Who else is a fan?

The only downside for me is they rarely have anything trucky to share.

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Power Steering Moaning on real cold mornings...

My power steering was horrible until I had my dealer change the fluid to synthetic.

    Aisin ATF

VW specifies a 40K interval for the Aisin in my Passat. I know the pan is smaller but so are the loads placed on it.

    Finicky Backup Lights on 06

Adjust or replace switch. Had mine replaced @ 184K.

whats the lowest temp you've ever fired your ctd in?

-31 F, not plugged in. Clouds of black smoke until it warmed up a bit. The 5W30 synthetic is great for WI winters.

Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting New from S&W

You should repost this on April 1.

    Code Reader

The VAG-COM software seems to read my Dodge and Subaru with equal ease as well.

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Anyway to keep tires from "losing" air in winter

The comments from Joe and Dennis really cover this issue. The only way I see to avoid the pressure losses is to move to someplace that stays warm year 'round, like California. But you'll have to be careful: the heat might make your pressure rise!

Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting Glock verses Beretta

I like my 92FS. Trigger pull is fine; I cock the hammer so I always fire SA and therefore I have a consistent pull.

    Timing of Brake Fluid Change

I go with the recommendation of VW and other manufacturers: every 24 months, regardless of mileage. Brake fluid is hydroscopic and I sure don't want my binders to fail from the inside out from rust damage.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) transmission issue

Since drain back was a known issue when I bought my truck, I always let it warm up in neutral until the heater grids quit. Never have any shifting problems when its time to move.
