Ignition Switch Removed - Truck Thinks It's Running

I think this is the last update: Re-replaced the ignition switch and constant key-in is fixed. PDC was the issue.

    Front head lights,

Couldn't agree more with AEd. Installed AlphaRex last year on my 2004.5 and they are ridiculously amazing

Ignition Switch Removed - Truck Thinks It's Running

I'm going to call this a win. I didn't find any IPMs at the bone yard last weekend that I could use to troubleshoot so I ordered a rebuilt PDC from MAKS. It came in yesterday. I attached my existing FCM to the side, installed the whole IPM, and it fixed the problem from the original post...

Ignition Switch Removed - Truck Thinks It's Running

Thanks Topzide, I was hesitant to even put the part about the bone yard in my earlier post for all the reasons you mention. After a good night's sleep, I curbed my enthusiasm on that option and will exercise that for troubleshooting only. If I can get one pretty cheap and test it against my...

Ignition Switch Removed - Truck Thinks It's Running

Sorry, I just meant an IPM "new to me." I may haunt the U-Pull-Its this weekend, which comes with its own risk, or I’ll go with Circuit Board Medics like TZ recommended. I also see I failed to include one critical schematic, showing that START F951 off of the ignition harness CAV3 only goes...

Ignition Switch Removed - Truck Thinks It's Running

Hey TDR Friends & Gurus, I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend. I don’t have resolution on this yet, but I think have it figured out, and I’ve learned some things about this 3rd Gen after 21 years and wanted to post an update that may be helpful in the interim. #1: 2nd vs. 3rd Gen part...

Ignition Switch Removed - Truck Thinks It's Running

seafish - Thanks and yes, the skinny silver box between (not "within" - meant "with". not enough coffee) the PDC and the side of the engine compartment is my next target. I think I also screwed up the F951, I'm pretty sure that's the circuit in the gasser. I'll have to look it up. Topzide -...

Ignition Switch Removed - Truck Thinks It's Running

...I guess I should have asked if you meant the integrated power module in general, or the TIPM specifically? I believe the TIPM was introduced in 2006, and I understand has been a big problem. My truck has just an integrated power module (fuse box) within the PDC, and I'm definitely going to...

Ignition Switch Removed - Truck Thinks It's Running

Thanks Topzide, I think Dodge started with the TIPM in 2006, mine's a 2004.5. I'm going to start with the PDC today - precursor to the TIPM.

Ignition Switch Removed - Truck Thinks It's Running

Hey TDR Gurus, Sorry I haven't been active in the forum for a while. I've been busy working on my kids' cars and the tractor, but I got home from work on Monday and my truck wouldn't turn off. I first assumed it was the turbo timer, but unplugging the Edge tuner (stock tune) didn’t do anything...

    Edge CTS3 Caution...

While I've seen more than a few reviews like this on the Evolution CTS3, I've had just the opposite experience. I've only been running it since January, but I've had no issues. I ran an old Edge Insight CS for years, then traded up this year, and everything has worked as advertised. Gauges...

    Unexpained MPG drop

After another month, I think this case is closed. Another 1,200 miles mixed between mostly empty and a little car hauling, I hesitantly moved the CKP back for the last two tanks of fuel. Poor performance returned immediately. Less low end power, higher EGTs, and lower economy (right back to...

    Unexpained MPG drop

So there might be light at the end of the tunnel, but it will probably be very unsatisfying to my TDR friends . The posts by Timd and Darkblood caused my one brain synapse to fire last week and I took another look at the aftermarket CKP I put in back in '05. It's the ROKK with the...

    Unexpained MPG drop

AH-64, totally agree. Like I said earlier, I've been less than impressed with the "new" dyno experience from this shop. Still waiting on the guy that actually runs the dyno to get back from a hunting trip and maybe get some real answers. User113 - 10% & 0% load are on the dyno rollers.

    Unexpained MPG drop

So first, I want to thank everyone again for ALL the input. It's one big reason I love it here. Tuesdak - So I've wondered that same thing, and gone weeks without using A/C to see if that made a difference. Zero difference. Darkblood - I've been thinking along those lines for about the last...

    Unexpained MPG drop

Yessir, stock tune. No tune ever applied.

    Unexpained MPG drop

:D:D Yep, after 7 years on and off chasing MPG lost overnight my wife and kids think I'm nuts. Maybe, but I'm stubborn too.

    Unexpained MPG drop

Tuesdak - Sorry I hit post before answering your questions. So that "mung" turned out to be plastic. So yes, went back and had the whole fuel system looked at while I was there in the shop. Cleaned injectors by hand, new feed tubes, pulled the CP3, pressure and return lines, tank, no issues...

    Unexpained MPG drop

So as far as the dyno runs, I wasn't there when they ran them, but was told they were in 1st gear, WOT, TC locked. "10% load" is resistance on the rollers - last run at 0% was free wheeling. Just to be clear, I knew there was a low chance I was going to find a "smoking gun" from the dyno...

    Unexpained MPG drop

I should have included that last night - CF is 1.05. Don't have smoothing or the uncorrected dyno, and the shop didn't keep the data, only the screen shot. I was a little "disappointed". Totally agree the dyno shows way more than stock power to the wheels. The shop assumed I had a tuner, so...
