“So you want to be a Truck Driver” Quiz

Tell ya when your tires on the trailer aren't turning anymore?

    P2579 code

Thank you. Based on what you wrote, I need to have a shop that can follow those procedures take a look at the truck.

    P2579 code

Got the code at the end of a 500 mile trip, pulling the trailer. Had run freeway, state routes, and back roads. Was 1/2 mile from home, at 25 mph on level ground. Mechanic at my city scanned it and cleared it. Truck currently has 75,000 miles. (I bought it new for hauling RV's and snow skiing)...

    Tire change by myself

Working on putting together a proper kit. As far as experience changing tires, I have been doing that sorta stuff all my life. Technique isn't the issue, the proper tools are, and I do not have the physical strength I once did. (Although I can put more poundage now on the end of the lever...) I...

    Tire change by myself

Didn't have to, but realize I could not have. Things I need to get: 24mm socket for the lug nuts. Torque wrench that reads to 155lbs. Long wrench handle or extender. What did you do?

    Spare Tire Winch Failures!

Will be getting a couple of ratchet straps. New tire in spare position, and my toyhauler also uses a winch to hold the spare under the garage. TDR rocks.

    Tread separation, dang it.

Probably something to consider, but I am stretching the budget to get these tires, and I am having to put off new tires for momma's Chrysler. Thanks for the info, I will talk to the tire guys.

    Spare to match

Thinking that I should just buy the 5th tire and get a wheel to match stock. Found one on E Bay that specs in one paragraph 2003 to 2014, and one other place 2009 to 2014. Suggestions please. Rim Material: Alloy Offset: +43.18 mm Hollander #: 2383 Mfg #: No. Of Bolts: 8 Bolt Pattern: 6...

    Tread separation, dang it.

Wasn't planning on new tires just yet, but had a tire bulge out under the tread this last weekend. Huge "Attaboy" for Les Schwab in Ellensburg for getting it on the jacks quickly and finding the problem. (I had no idea what was wrong, but it was wobbling.) Not sure if I read it here, but...

    Medicare!!!!

I honestly don't know if that would work, so much regulation is involved, and is necessary, really, a hands off approach isn't the solution. At least not yet. Medical is a very tangled web. I don't begrudge anyone what they have earned. Wealth is just wealth, what is done with it, that is the...

    Medicare!!!!

That is so true. We were a single income family in the socialist wet side of Washington state, and due to the financial wizardry of my lovely bride we were able to do OK. I have worked for other people, worked for the government, had my own business, and retired twice. Back to working 40 hrs a...
