    Grid heater disconnect

I'll give that a shot. Thanks!

    Grid heater disconnect

I have a 2008 truck and living in California, I decided to disconnect the positive cable at the battery to the solenoid that operates the grid heater after a friend of mine experienced engine problems after inhaling some slag from the nut connection. I read to start the truck immediately to...

    A/C compressor leak

Thanks for the replies. Well then, I'm off to the evil dealership to find out what they want to charge me to fix it. I don't really have the time or inclination to take on this project right now and it's starting to get warm here. I'm thinking it will need a new compressor since they probably...

    A/C compressor leak

A few weeks ago I noticed an accumulation of yellowish looking oil on the bottom of the A/C compressor. I think its been leaking for awhile as the A/C now isn't cold but cool so it's probably leaking the refrigerant as well. The leak appears to be right where the 2 halves of the compressor case...

    Tire Questions

I made an interesting observation but what does it mean? If you look at the Toyo load inflation tables page 23 and use LT285/70R17 as an example, it shows that tire as a load range E maxing out at 3195 at 65 psi but the tire can be pressurized up to 80psi. I'm going to go out on a limb and...

    Tire Questions

Lots of good info. I went to the maxitpms site and plugged in my vehicle which is a 2008 and as luck would have it, my current TPMS sensors are 315 Mhz. Looks like they switched over to the 433 Mhz the end of 2009. Not a big deal though. I'll use the old style sensors or get an aftermarket...

    Tire Questions

I think you may be correct. Switching to 18" take offs might be the better long term solution. For those who have done this switch, what were the pitfalls if any? I know the bolt pattern is the same and the offset is slightly different. What about the lug nuts, caps and TPMS sensors. Do I use...

    Tire Questions

I did dig up some information regarding this issue on another forum. Apparently the Tire and Rim Association(TRA) mandated all 17 inch tires be limited to a load index of 121 or 3195lbs when they are redesigned. So when Toyo joined the TRA they had to limit the load rating printed on their tires...

    Tire Questions

Sorry if this has discussed before but I couldn't find much information on the subject. I'm currently running 17 inch rims on a 3rd generation truck and haul a 3000lb camper most of the time. A few years back both Toyo and Nitto had numerous E rated tires that had higher load indexes than 121 or...

    Camper shell wiring

Does anyone know how to wire up the third brakelight on a camper shell that I bought used and put on a 2008 Ram. Which wires(colors) do I hook into? Also what's the best way to wire up the interior dome lights without running miles of wire? Thanks!

    Steel Bumpers

Reunel Bumpers I had Reunel Front and rears put on in March. I'm very pleased with the workmanship and quality. Free install as well if you can get to Maxwell. They painted to match and the paint seems to be holding up well. I would post some pictures but I can't figure out how to do it on this...

    Jeep Trailer

I'm looking for a quality trailer to tow my Jeep. It will be a bumper pull and tandem axle unit. A toolbox in front would be nice along with tie downs for the Jeep and maybe the ability to add sides if I needed to use it for hauling other stuff. What are you guys using and what could I expect to...

    Chirping noise from Dash?

Dealer found it!!!! Thanks to everyone who replied. Took the truck into the dealer for the H34 recall and told them not to call until the chirping noise was fixed. 3 days later I get the call to pick it up. They removed the steering column and dash and found two bolts that were loose that...

    Chirping noise from Dash?

I'm hoping someone has had this problem and they were able to fix it. I have an annoying chirping noise that seems to come from the dash area directly in front of the driver. It only happens when I hit jarring type bumps(washboard roads are the worst) I can't identify the exact location as it is...

    Fuel Tank Replacement

I should clarify. It's 2 hours and 20 minutes at 3 am during Duck Season. Otherwise we'll call it an easy 2 hrs and 45 minutes via River Rd. Thanks for the reply. I don't think it's possible to reprogram the trip computer but that darn thing isn't accurate anyway. Still, it would be nice to be...

    Fuel Tank Replacement

I'm thinking of replacing the OEM tank on my truck with a 56 gallon aftermarket tank from Transfer Flow. They will do the install as well. Will this installation be legal in California? Will the dealer mess with my warranty? Does the new tank mess with any of the computer information or overhead...

    Toolbox+Bed Reinforcement Kit

Does anyone know if this warning applies to only "over the rail" type boxes or if it applies to any toolbox mounted in the front of the bed? The cautionary notes aren't very specific. Common sense tells me the problem is caused by too much weight on the rails but maybe I'm missing something. Thanks!

    Toolbox+Bed Reinforcement Kit

82205240 Thanks for the responses. I looked up the part number and it appears that they are trying to sell a Trac Rak system. Rails that allow you to mount a sliding toolbox or over head rack. I just want the reinforcement kit but only if needed. Maybe they changed the part number. I guess I'll...

    Toolbox+Bed Reinforcement Kit

Dodge's fix The reinforcement kit that Dodge sells is a pair of L brackets that screw to the front top inside lip of the bed rails with brackets that transfer the weight of the toolbox to the lower vertical lip portion of the bed rails instead of the top of the bed rail. I suppose it ties the...

    Toolbox+Bed Reinforcement Kit

I have a Weatherguard Saddle Box installed on the rails of my bed and I just read a thread that talks about installing a toolbox reinforcement kit to prevent damage to the bed. Are they serious! I have had this box in previous trucks(Fords, sorry!) with no problems. Is this necessary or are they...
