    91.5 Low Charging Voltage

I can provide a good reference for the adjustable regulators that mysteryman sells. I bought one from him years ago and it solved my previous overcharging problem and gave me years of trouble free service. In hindsight, I probably should have just bought a new one from him when my most recent...

    91.5 Low Charging Voltage

The 91.5 and prior did not have a crank speed sensor and I don't think the VR voltage is controlled by the PCM. But I learned when I had overcharging problems, that there is a splice in the wires that provide power to the VR and alternator that can be source of voltage problems. I learned from...

    91.5 Low Charging Voltage

Mine is a 91.5 with intercooler. It has a PCM but also has the external regulator. My understanding is that 92 was the start of alternator with voltage controlled by the PCM.

    91.5 Low Charging Voltage

It has a voltmeter and it is actually reading very close to the hand held digital voltmeter that I use across the battery.

    91.5 Low Charging Voltage

I like the shield that you installed. I just moved mine to the driver's side inner fender to make it easier to access / replace.

    91.5 Low Charging Voltage

The signature line that I can see shows the year and model of both of my trucks. And yes, I have a RO car.

    91.5 Low Charging Voltage

I had a digital voltmeter on the battery for a few minutes but did not drive the truck. I will report back after an extended drive.

    91.5 Low Charging Voltage

UPDATE: I just got a new regulator from NAPA and it is now charging @ 14.8 volts. Hopefully, it will continue to function and I will get a spare (and throw away the "good" ones that I had).

    91.5 Low Charging Voltage

I know this subject has been beat to death but I tried everything I could read on here on this subject and still can't resolve the problem. I had previously bypassed the PCM with a relay supplying battery voltage to the regulator and alternator. This bypass worked and I had no problems until...

    New Owner - 1st Question

I completed the wiring as shown in your diagram and the modification solved the problem. I now have full battery voltage to the regulator and while running, 14.25 volts across the battery. The hardest part was soldering the wires (my old bones and joints do not allow me to get in positions that...

    New Owner - 1st Question

Got it, both blue wires. Another question: will the "low voltage" end of the cut be enough to close the new relay? I got the relay installed and wired to the battery and ground, have not yet cut any existing wires. Thanks again, Jim

    New Owner - 1st Question

I looked in the FSM as suggested and I found the splice in same location as the one in your photo. Time to start wiring the relay. Thanks, Jim

    New Owner - 1st Question

Another question before I tear into the harness. Please correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me that there is no need to uncover the splice, but instead cut the blue wire that goes to the regulator, and wire the relay to that point. Does that make sense or am I missing something?

    New Owner - 1st Question

Thanks for responding, I plan to use di-electric grease on the connectors. Jim

    New Owner - 1st Question

Thanks for responding, I will try tomorrow to locate the splice. Also, I picked up a 40A relay along with a matching plug/pigtail and an inline fuse holder. I spent most of one day removing and cleaning all of the under hood grounds and opening the charging system connectors and cleaning those...

    New Owner - 1st Question

I have just spent two days looking for the cause of my under voltage condition at the regulator when I found this post. I have not unwrapped the entire harness but today I started looking for the splice. Is it directly above the brake booster? Also, where do I find a relay? I am not an...

    Cowl Drain Locations

I am trying to locate and clean the cowl drains on my 2006 Quad Cab. I park near pine trees and suspect the drains may need cleaned. Any help locating the drain exit points would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

    ball joints, beating the horse

I replaced the ball joints on my 2006 at 58,000 miles with Carli's. 100K on the truck now and no problems. If you go with Carli, make sure the lowers get installed per the instructions with the grease fitting oriented correctly.

    Front Driveshaft Vibration

I took my 2006 to the dealer for replacement of a leaking front axle pinion seal. On the drive home, it had a vibration similar to the one you described. The dealer told me to bring it back and they had it for two days diagnosing the vibration. They tried removing and re-indexing the driveshaft...
