Have you verified good air flow across your radiator? Maybe a coincidence after the water pump failure but I would check for dirt on the radiator or try flushing water through the fins and see if it is dirty.

I am with ozy it wouldn’t run right. Is it possible return fuel ran down out of the return passage when you pulled the injectors? Or did the injectors get pulled and the key turned on for some reason that the lift pump would have turned on? Or is it coolant?
