I have the DSS on my '97. Was there when I bought it. It does help support the output shaft & pitman arm. Like the others say wether it's BD or DSS they are great upgrades. Certainly won't hurt you.

I've got a '97 W/ 4 in exh, ATS 3 pc & AEM cold air intake. I run between 20-21 MPG to & from work . The last trip to the Oregon coast was just a tick over 22 MPG. I can't ask for anything better.
