Well, I finally got around to replacing the sway bar links. I bought the ones from Geno's garage. It was an easy job and the thumping noise is gone. Also put in new front brakes and Michelin LTX m/s. It runs like new again.

I wonder what would have happened if you unlocked the door with the key and not used the remote at all. Was it a problem with the theft device itself or a problem getting the signal to the theft device. You would think the key itself would have disabled the anti theft device.

Pardon my ignorance but sway bar end links are those 2 tiny rods that are verticle? That was my guess as well as that is the only thing in the front end that is original. Brakes made no difference in the noise.

2005 2500 --When driving over washboard roads or hitting a pothole something in the front end is thumping. 97,000 miles most tie rods have been replaced in the last 35,000 miles ball joints about 40,000 miles ago. Granted my tires are shot but I don't think that is the thumping sound.
