    Considering an RV purchase

Guess I will throw in on this, too - in addition to 'all of the above'.... have been full time living in two different trailers for last 11 years. And seen thousands of rv's and talked with hundreds of owners coming through the trailer park I stay at most the of time. Some miscellaneous...

    Better RV Brands?

Couple of comments based on full time trailer living for the last 9+ years....and "heavy" weekend camping for 50 years. Started with 1997 Kit Sportsmaster "weekend trailer" 5ht wheel for the first 6.5 years. This trailer had been lived in full time for all but 1 year of its life until I got...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2000 Needs Some Luv

Moog. Did you take the radiator out? That is critical if want to get it clean...I haven't been able to get thorough clean with it in truck. Had to replace due to crack in end tank, but kept it and cleaned it and going to "weld" the end tank (plastic - I hate it!) Core was still pristine...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) At what mileage has your VP 44 died

Got the BlueChip pump - bought the "Best" since I am planning to keep the truck and be buried in it....or maybe on the Harley - maybe on the bike, sitting in the bed of the truck...? Took too long, since it was the first one, but started immediately and is running good so far. If get another...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) At what mileage has your VP 44 died

Just died today on way to work. Got a P1688 code - had replaced the lift pump (stock) - third one in truck - 3 days ago. '99 2500 5.9L with 306,000 miles on it. Wish it had gone longer, but no grounds to complain about it. Now, who makes or rebuilds the best?? I think I will put a Fass in...

    2012 tie rod grease fitting?

Go ahead and change them out with some Moog parts so you can have the grease fittings... .

    Better RV Brands?

One can get good service out of a cheap POS if one can do a little maintenance along the way - my case is perfect example. And not too hung up on "pretty". Have lived full time for over 5 years in '97 Kit that is now on its last legs. Before that, it was used aggressively and lived in over 50%...

    Better RV Brands?

Slides are a pain if not rigorously maintained. (Yeah, NuWa slides will leak from time to time, but noticeably fewer than most. ) If don't mind doing a little work, get an older, well made trailer and re-do the insides. Early 80's Holiday Ramblers can be a good starting point. Spartan...

    Better RV Brands?

Tan units (metal siding) have fiberglass insulation. Not sure when the blue foam (fiberglass siding) was started, but have seen tan units from as late as mid 90's - not that long ago.

    Better RV Brands?

If interested in NuWa, just come on down to this part of the world. Chanute is very nice little town to visit... not too much to do, but nice. The factory tour is very good. It used to be that if you went on Friday, there was no production, so got a much more detailed and quieter tour. Could...

    Better RV Brands?

That explains perfectly why they don't get the "ratings". I have seen just about every trailer ever made come through home park in the last 5 years or so. Including quite a few older ones (Spartan, Airstream, home mades - but no Airfloat Navigators!!) The litany of woes for trailers made in...

    Better RV Brands?

Wrong?? By stating what they told me?? Hmmm..... ok... . Anyway,... as I said before. When I visited the plant, they showed us a black frame. They tour guide said it was built "across the street" by a local welding shop. Don't remember his name, but the guy who gave the tour is the one who...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission I want to convert my 99 ram single axle 3/4 ton to a 1 ton dually

Why would you want a dually in the first place? Reduced fuel mileage, reduced load capacity (1 ton to 1 ton comparison). Big fat wide rear end to maneuver around, as compared to the sleek trim shape of the bed with just two wheels! Less traction per tire on the rear end (same load spread over...

    Better RV Brands?

Bill, I have looked at the DRV before and those things are gorgeous! And expensive. When I go to their website, they are talking about 'high density wool insulation'. Would you happen to know from your contacts what that really means? Is it a cellulose wool, or a mineral wool? Or something...

    Better RV Brands?

When you get to Chanute, ask them how those older units were built. The blue Dow seems to be something that has just come along in the last 10 years or so - just an impression I get. They used to use fiberglass in very old units (tan siding). When I toured the NuWa factory in 2009, they showed...

    Better RV Brands?

Have been living full time in old POS RV by a company no longer in business (Kit). Have talked to most of the people who come through the RV park. Second the motion about Fleetwood, Montana, Outback and the vast majority of the RV's built today - they are junk. Very notable exceptions...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Oil Pressure Gauge cuts out

I hate idiot lights! Guess I will have to do something additional. This thing has been sitting at a steady 50 psi for a lot longer - since late last summer. 249,000 miles, so I guess something has to give.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Muffler or not

My '99 makes plenty of noise straight from the factory - and sounds really good doing it; usually have to turn it off at drive through and toll booths just so they can hear me talk. I got the Harley for enhanced noise.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Oil Pressure Gauge cuts out

I knew I keep renewing for a reason. My '99 has been doing that for the last few weeks and I am really happy to see this post!
