    K&N Air filter

Did I read correctly in the last Turbo Diesel Magazine, that if I install an after marked air filter like a K&N that it could void the warranty? I thought I read that if you install one that the dealership could argue that I messed it up if something goes wrong in the engine? That seems absurd...

    Not shifting to overdrive?

Thanks guys. Interesting that the dealer didn't know this information...

    Not shifting to overdrive?

My 2010 is intermittingly not shifting from 4th to 5th or 6th. It only happens in the morning when it's cold and then stops. I've had one new sensor installed because of this problem in the past. Of course the service area can't duplicate the issue! Am I missing something? There are no codes...

    EGT's and shut down

At what temperature is it safe to shut down the engine so the oil doesn't "cook" in the turbine? I have the EDGE gauge and I've been waiting for the EGT's to get below 450 degrees before shutting down.

    Towing in Overdrive

Thanks Rusty, Another thing that I've noticed; when pulling up hill and the truck slows a bit, when I push the accelerator down it doesn't downshift like I've had other vehecles do. Is this normal? If I wanted more pull in that situation would it be better to let off the accelerator?

    Towing in Overdrive

If the tow/haul mode doesn't shut off overdrive, what exactly is it doing?

    Towing in Overdrive

I'm pretty new to all of this. I thought the tow/haul mode automatically kicked out the overdrive 5th and 6th gear? Usually I put it in tow/haul and put on the brake system and drive. Is there a better way?? I'm pulling a 40' 5er that's 11,900 dry. It seems to be okay so far.

    Egt

I bought an Edge CS to monitor my engine. I've made no changes to the engine, just interested in watching. I had a probe for EGT's installed too. Now I'm watching the numbers range from 800 to 1100 or 1200 (when pulling). At what temperature should I be concerned? I've asked this in another...

    Edge cs

Edge sent me a download through Fusion and it seems to be working well now. I'm not sure what warranty issues to be concerned about since this is a monitor and not a programmer. I did notice that the EGT's are higher than some other trucks. So, if it runs hot normally, at what temp should I have...

    Edge cs

I'm being told that my CS thinks that my truck is a manual transmission and thus won't offer a PID for trans temp. It's supposed to be updated this coming Monday. Now I have another issue, it's not reading ANYTHING! The screen shows INSIGHT CS and just sits there! It was reading the other...

    Edge Insight Issues?

I don't get it. I hope they can figure it out. I was thinking of monitoring the same parameters. Why is it important to monitor boost?

    Edge Insight Issues?

I bought a CS Insight to monitor engine activity. I can't get trans temp on the PID list. The engineers are supposed to be writing one. Anyone else have an issue?

    Edge cs

I bought an Edge monitor for my truck since it's not been "molested" but I stil wanted to monitor the activity, especially when towing. There isn't a listing on the monitor to choose boost or trans temp. I had the probe for EGT installed. There's supposed to be an update with the information to...

    Gauges revisited

What do you think about the trans temp gauge that come with the factory information? I"m thinking that I'll only need to get an EGT and boost gauge. Thoughts?

    Numbers again

Just curious. I notice the other truck makers listing tow ratings for conventional and 5th wheel as being different. Dodge doesn't. They have on listing which I believe to be conventional. Is there a formula of some sort that would convert the conventional to 5th wheel?

    Different hitch?

I'm currently using a slider hitch with my short bed Ram. It's a Reese. On a couple of occasions it didn't lock into place in the manuevering position. I'm thinking about getting a hitch that can adjust automatically. What would be a good brand? Do they work? Are they any more difficult to...

    Gauges revisited

I asked about getting gauges previously and had different answers. One suggested that if I haven't changed anything with the truck that I probably wouldn't need them. Another person thought that a red flag could go up to the local dealer who works on the truck if they see gauges. If I decide to...

    Helper springs

The fifth wheel weighs 11,900 dry. I don't pull with liquids. The truck pulls it fine. The 4:10 rears help and the Cummins is strong.

    Helper springs

I currently am pulling a 40 foot fifth wheel with my 2500. It squats a little bit. I only pull around 5 times a year. Would you suggest a helper spring (extra leaf) or Sumo or something else?

    Gauges?

If you're not making any chip changes to the engine etc, is it important to have gauges, other than the factory ones, to monitor things like exhaust temperatures? I tow about three times a year. It's a fifth wheel that's 11,900 dry. I don't tow with tanks full other than propane.
