Emissions equipment question - pickup versus chassis cab.

Good evening all! Have expanded my research of a new rig to the chassis-cab models and have a couple questions regarding the exhaust after-treatment and EGR differences. From what I've read so far, the commercial trucks are held to slightly lower federal standards, have larger fuel and DEF...

    Sport appearance group

Late arrival explains why they aren't on the lots yet. That is exactly what I was looking for thank you! Shows the different colors with the black wheels and headlight buckets. 12V98, the sport appearance package looks like it's only available on the Laramie. -Tony

    Sport appearance group

Greetings! I am doing my homework for a 2016/2017 3500 purchase, set to place the order at the end of 3rd quarter next year. In the last couple months I've spent more hours than I care to admit running through gear ratio math, learning the options and packages offered by Ram and learning all...

    what axle's do i have?

If you don't mind the noise and it spends more time off pavement you'll appreciate the traction of a locker. If you would rather have something smoother with better road manners, a Power-loc might be a wiser choice. The Detroit Locker will compliment a plow. And yes... with a manual (my...

Automatic or manual trans? Can you put up with some noise?

    what axle's do i have?

Trac-loc or Power-loc are available. Both are clutch type limited slip. The power-loc is a bit more robust. There are good discussions about these units amongst the Jeep forums. Detroit Locker is, too but they have a list of shortcomings.

    what axle's do i have?

Rear = Dana 70/U... 32 spline for single-wheel trucks. Front = Dana 60... 35 spline at the differential and 30 at the lockouts. (from the factory, of course... with how old these things are it's usually best to check with your eyes before committing to a $600 piece of iron) Good luck...

On the hunt for more air.

Limited by wheels which are 6" wide. I would like to go to a 245mm tire, but I think there would be issues with tires rubbing between the duals. The 225's will be a good starting point. Got the wheels off of a early 90's General Motors P-30 bread truck, had them machined for the Ford hub bore...

On the hunt for more air.

The ZF has a 0.76 OD. The tires are closer to the 31.5-32.5" diameter range. I'll start reading about a good nozzle match for the 62/65/12. I'll be scouting for a G56/NV6500 as time goes by. I think a transmission will be easier to replace than a turbo once this is assembled. The ZF is fresh...

Thank you Nick, I haven't seen that manifold in a Ford before, does it place the turbo centered between cylinders 3&4? Ditched the diaphragm vacuum pump, this pump will probably be overkill for just HVAC controls, oh well. I'm not stuck on a certain number, I just want this to pull like my...

    what axle's do i have?

If these axles are in a daily driver and you haven't had an axle torn apart for more than an oil change, it might be best to consider having a shop do the work. If it's not your daily, then you have the luxury of some down time to read, research, find tools, etc. If you're in snowy country you...

On the hunt for more air.

I'm running the industrial manifold to set the turbo back near cylinder 5, I needed the room. The other option on the table at the time was a 3rd gen manifold, but the different port design appeared restrictive. I'll check out the PDR HX35... Haven't spent much time looking at the HX35 because...

On the hunt for more air.

The fuel and air are really the crux of my research right now. I added info on gear ratios and potential weight the rig will see thinking it could give an idea as to what it will be doing. It will spend most of it's life around 9,000 lbs unloaded. Time spent around 26,000 will be limited and of...

On the hunt for more air.

Thank you! I still have the OE manifold, too... I tracked down the industrial manifold to help with heat/ac fitment issues with the bricknose Ford. The original manifold put the turbine in contact with the AC receiver drier. This manifold gets close to the evaporator housing, but it's...

On the hunt for more air.

The HE351 would be more appealing if the price hadn't inflated over the last few years. I'm not sure I have room for twins with the industrial manifold. Plumbing would have to get creative. I'm not opposed to the idea, just makes things more complicated. Right now the intake horn is off a...

On the hunt for more air.

No doubt this old beast has it's inherit short-Cummins when compared to the 2006. I've been a car/truck guy for fun and professionally from the beginning, but it was the 2006 325/610 motor that drove me to respect and love these engines. I was forced to sell my 2006 in 2009 when I had to leave...

I thought the CPL 0804 injectors were a jump above the 91.5-93 sticks stock. I wonder if there's still a benefit to installing an even larger set.

On the hunt for more air.

Checking out the Super B now, it's definitely 'advertised' as a fit. I'll keep digging into the specifics. Now would be the time to sink a set of injectors into the mix if that's what it will take to keep the fire going at high load and RPM. Will a 62mm compressor take considerably more to...

On the hunt for more air.

Hello all, I can find answers to my questions most of the time, but I've been researching turbos for the last couple weeks and my brain just hurts. I haven't posted to a forum in nearly a decade (with the exception of this morning), so here goes... Working on a really long, drawn out...
