    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) correct fuel pressure?

Point well taken BigPapa. In my research I did find that Carter is still making the pump for my truck and it is available. Part #M73104. I don't know if this is the same pump that is listed as a Cummins pump as I don't know if the Cummins pump is still made by Carter.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) correct fuel pressure?

Thanks all for your comments. After considerable research I talked myself out of the Fass pump. You guys just reenforced my decesion. As far as buying original, if I could purchase a Carter, made in the USA pump, I would gladly do so. As GAmes stated above, Carter no longer makes the pumps, and...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) correct fuel pressure?

This whole fiasco with these pumps has made me look at switching to a Fass lift pump, but they look to be pretty pricey. Thoughts. Good, bad, any comments welcome. Thanks

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) correct fuel pressure?

I cant say for sure what the psi is when driving. The guage is mounted on the injection pump. I need to get the line and fittings to move it into the cab. Free revving it and holding it at 1500/1600 rpm doesn't make much difference in the fuel pressure. Maybe a couple lbs. Hoping to get the...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) correct fuel pressure?

I attached the guage directly to the injection pump. I bought a new bolt from Geno's that replaces the stock bolt where the fuel line attaches to the pump and allows you to install a guage. Sorry to hear the PAI isn't any better than the NAPA. LOL. I can only hope for the best. The 25psi was...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) correct fuel pressure?

I was having an obvious fuel problem with my 1995 3500 Ram w/Cummins 5.9. I replaced the lift pump 8 months ago (10,000 miles) with a new one from NAPA. First thing I did was change the fuel filter. No help. I was finding it hard to believe the lift pump was bad already. I installed a fuel...

    head gasket leaking coolant

After completeing the reassembly we discovered we could not get any fuel to pump out of the injection pump, thus making it impossible to bleed the air out of the injector lines. The hand pump would not pump any fuel either. Installation of a new lift pump resolved the issue. Up and running well...

    head gasket leaking coolant

Engine is apart and all looks good. Did discover something interesting tho. The front locating pin (tube) is pushed pretty deep into the head. The amount protrudung that would go into the block is not enough to make it through the gasket. It looks like the pin was never in the hole in the block...

    head gasket leaking coolant

I did check all possible locations for the leak. I removed the alternator and mounting bracket to get a better look at things. It then became obvious the coolant was leaking from between the head and the block. Thanks for the input.

    head gasket leaking coolant

For no apparent reason the head gasket has developed a huge coolant leak. The leak is on the passenger side up front under the alternator braket, just above the plug in the block. To me it seems to be a pretty big leak. Coolant literally just runs out. Nobody in my crowd has ever seen this...

    Fuel Starvation Problem

Dylan, Several years ago I had what sounds like the same issue you are having. My truck woud do what sounds like almost the exact same thing that your's is doing. It would do this without warning. Other than it acting up on occasion, it ran perfectly. I checked all of the items mentioned here...

    Rim fitment

I went and looked at the rims the gentleman was selling. I had been misinformed, they are 17" wheels. We were able to install one on the front of my truck with no clearance issues. I do not want to change to 17" wheels. I have found new 16" Alcoa rims for sale online, but no one is able to...

    Rim fitment

I have a 1995 Ram Dually. I have a chance to pick up a set of Alcoa 16" rims from a 2012 Ram 3500. From what I can see there is a slight difference in the hub bore. That is not a problem, I can recut the center bore to fit my truck. I was wondering if anyone knew if the rest of the rim...

    radio issues

They both have the Infinity radio. Just seems pretty odd they both quit working, and did the exact same thing. I'm pretty sure whatever is wrong with one, is wrong with the other. Thanks for your help.

    radio issues

I have 2 1995 Ram 3500 cab & chassis trucks. They are virtually identical. The radios have quit working in both trucks. No clock, no nothing. I purchased another radio at the junkyard and installed it in one of the trucks. It worked great for about a week, then same problem. No clock no nothing...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) unsolved mystery

GAmes, I am sure you are correct in saying it will completely fail at the worst possible time. I have to tell you tho, I am a huge believer in not messing with something until needed. I am just having a bit of trouble accepting that the pump on this truck needs rebuilt already. (163,000). As far...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) unsolved mystery

Here is another update. The problem resurfaced again. I poured my water on the pump again. This time only 1/2 gallon. Lo and behold GAmes, it worked again. I proceeded on to my destination. The problem reoccurred about 30 miles later. I was close to where I was going so I limped the rest of the...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) unsolved mystery

GAmes, I read the link you listed. Boy, that story sure sounds familiar!! I have a full jug of H2o behind the seat to try again. Interesting talk in the thread about the shut-off solenoid jumping up & down. I noticed before I poured the water on the pump, that the solenoid coil was pretty hot...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) unsolved mystery

Well, for all of you who have been following this I have an update. I have been using the Stanadyne additive in place of the Racor. I am sorry to report, the Stanadyne did not solve the problem. The truck acted up again. However, I did try The idea GAmes suggested. I poured 1 gallon of cold...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) unsolved mystery

I will gladly post any new developments. The magazine and forum have made a lot of useful information available to me that I would probably not have discovered otherwise. I was already using an additive that I was purchasing from Geno's Garage. The Racor additive. But It was not listed in the...
