    nope your not nuts. As I remember mine made more noise on certain days and the weather seemed to be a factor. Couldn't quite figure it out either at the time,but changing the belt fixed it right up. try changing the belt and let me know if it disapears.

    i had a similar noise in my 95 gasser ram I had. It was the belt slipping slightly on the fan hub. try spraying a little soap and water just on the inside of the belt and see if the noise dissipates. if it doesn't, then try spraying alittle on the outside of the belt.
