    Antifreeze Question

One further question, Harvey. If all the old coolant isn't flushed out will there be any compatibility issues if the two coolants are mixed? Thanks again...

    Antifreeze Question

Thank you, Harvey. I was pretty certain it was the correct stuff but because of the differences of opinion some others had I wanted to be sure. I was also concerned about the color difference. The original coolant is a sort of orange, the Zerex is yellowish, IIRC. Thanks again.....

    Antifreeze Question

Hello again, guys. I'm about to change the coolant in my 2007. 5 RAM 3500/6. 7L. The instructions call for HOAT coolant. There is some difference in opinion at the auto parts store where I purchased a couple of gallons of Zerex GO5 antifreeze. The bottle is unclear as to whether this is...

    Fuel filter interval

I replaced mine a few weeks ago at 17k miles. I usually try to do it at or before 15k but for no apparent reason I let it go. I did notice an increase in performance after the change so I'm sure it was long overdue... .

I'm planning to drive the right side up on ramps normally used to level an RV. Thanks to you others for your helpful suggestions... . Eddy

    Time for G56 Fluid Change

Thanks for the replies, fellas. One further question: how much goes in the transfer case?

    Time for G56 Fluid Change

Quick question, guys. I'm about to change fluid in the G56 and transfer case and need to know the capacities of each. Second, what size allen wrench do I need for the G56. I know the transfer case is 10mm but don't know the size for the transmission. Third, how difficult is it to refill the...

    Website for Recall Info

Hey, guys... here's my question: At one time I was able to access a website where all I had to do was input the last 7 figures of my truck's VIN and I could obtain info regarding my particular truck's recall history. I can't find that URL anymore. Do any of you know what the URL is? Thanks... . Eddy

    Soot in Tailpipe

Thanks, GunEBear but I don't have an extended warranty and I believe standard warranty coverage for emissions ended at 60k miles. There's a DPF cleaning service in Tucson I may check out, although they can't repair a cracked DPF. I may just have it cleaned out and not worry about the crack. The...

    Soot in Tailpipe

Thanks again, everyone for your replies. I should be heading to Tucson in about a month where I know a good diesel mechanic (his shop is ironically within walking distance of a Dodge dealer). He'll be able to assist me in removal of any components for inspection, if necessary. You guys have been...

    Soot in Tailpipe

Thanks for the replies. Harvey, the truck is a 2007. 5 with about 75k miles. It is totally stock and gets driven mainly around town with some highway mileage and occasional towing (12k fifth wheel). It has the latest flashes as far as I know (J35 being the last one a few years ago). The turbo...

    Soot in Tailpipe

Hi, all. Vehicle in question: early model 6. 7 Cummins-equipped 3500 RAM. For quite some time I've noticed the inside of the tailpipe is coated with soot. Not a heavy coating, mind you but noticeable just the same. Does this indicate a cracked DPF or am I correct in assuming that it's normal for...

How to change a fuel filter on a 2010 6.7

I've been using a light coating of Vaseline on the rubber seals in lieu of oil. Is there any problem doing that? I feel that since Vaseline is a petroleum product it shouldn't matter. So far there's been no problems.

How many miles on your DPF

73,000 miles on mine. No problems so far (mixed city/highway/occasional towing 12k fifth wheel). Tailpipe does have a light coating of soot, but it takes a while to show up after cleaning. I was told that a slight amount of soot in the pipe was normal but according to what others are stating on...
