    After market brake controller

This is interesting, because if your truck would have come with the factory ITBM, it would have a problem with unplugging the ITBM and installing a P3. I did exactly that with my 2014, and it was fine with it up to about a year ago when the truck suddenly indicated a problem with the Electronic...

    Remote Start issues.....

The remote start won’t work if you have an mil. I learned this when I began to get a coolant low indication on cold mornings, which would go away as the truck warmed up. Of course, cold mornings are when I wanted to use the remote start. - John D

2014 Ram integrated brake controller compatible with Dexter disk brakes?

I wanted to bump this thread one last time because after a recent safety related recall (I think it had something to do with the air bags not deploying after a roll over event), the truck was displaying a check ebs warning, which resulted in the cruise control being disabled. The dealer traced...

    Remote CD player?

Loading your cd collection on a flash drive would be a much better option for you if that is an option for you. My 14 accepts a USB flash drive, an sd card or an aux input through a headphone jack in addition to the CD player. All of those are in the center console, and I've used them all except...

    Best replacement wiper blades

I thought we weren't supposed to use the rain-x fluid because it destroyed the washer fluid pump. Was that wrong?

    6.7L I6 / 68RFE Transmission Temp Towing

I have the same year drw truck, same rear end, tow the same weight. For as long as I've owned this truck, I've displayed the transmission temp on the EVIC, but as an analog gauge so I'm not sure I would notice a 6 degree temp difference. I have never seen the transmission temp even move, and I...

    2006 vs 2016

I like def. Whatever inconvenience it causes is more than made up for with an engine that doesn't have to be detuned to meet current emission standards. When I upgraded from my '07 to a '14 I was a little apprehensive about the def but I got a truck that is better in every category. And that's...

    Evaluation of Rig for Full-Time

I've towed a 5th wheel for six years. I love the life style and I love my truck (we started with a used 07 Ram and now own a 14 we bought new). For us it works, but a good friend of mine has a Tiffin motor home and tows a car. I asked him why they went that way and he said it was because his...

Front Suspension Track Bar Frame bracket recall R46 after the Bracket install

Update: Had the local dealer check the track bar when I had the truck in for an oil change. It wasn't torqued properly after the R46 recall so it "popped" sometimes when turning or when stressed. So Bob4x4 called it. - John D

Week vacation ruined before I could even get out of state ! Water pump blew 52K miles

If you have an extended warranty, ram will pay $35 a day to cover car rental fees for up to 5 days ($175 total) for each repair covered under warranty. I collected on this when the R46 track bar recall took 5 days last spring. It took several weeks, but they sent me a check for $175. - John D

    Cruise control

That's what it was on my '14. One of the first things I had fixed after taking delivery. Haven't had any issues with the cruise control since the 4 square switch array was replaced, but the other switch array that controls the EVIC is still original and often requires multiple pushes before the...

    CEL Code P20EE

Maybe they meant the SCR, which is what got replaced when this happened to me earlier this year. I was on I10 in New Mexico when I got the P20EE code and the truck started a 200 mile countdown to limp mode. Ended up at a small dealership in Deming. Took a week to get the part and the new SCR...

Replace your diesel truck with electric?

From the article: "With electric motors at all six wheels, the concept truck even claims to offer active torque vectoring. That means better traction, better cornering, and better braking. And with the diesel engine gone, Nikola created a more aerodynamic design that offers much better...

Front Suspension Track Bar Frame bracket recall R46 after the Bracket install

I had the R46 track bar recall done recently. I was putting it off until I also needed an oil change, but picking a dealer is always a problem because we travel a lot. Turns out only one of three local dealerships had a lift big enough for a cc lb drw truck, so they won. Took them 5 days, so I'm...

What Did You Do To Your 4th Generation Truck Today?

I had this recall done a couple of weeks ago. Took them five days. Started out to be overnight, so I rented a car. Each day I would call and they would bump it up a day, so I'd call Hertz and do the same. When they bumped it out to Friday, I told them I would pick it up the following Monday, a...

    DEF tank still full

I don't track my def usage either, but in your example you probably could add a gallon of def every other fill if you wanted to assuming an average of 25 gallons per fill. It doesn't seem that way because you're more likely to add 2 1/2 gallons after 5 fills or even longer by the time you get...

    DEF tank still full

Your DEF usage is approximately 2% of your fuel usage or about 50:1. So for every 50 gallons of fuel, plan on using 1 gallon of DEF. Your truck is fine. If it wasn't using DEF of wasn't using enough DEF the EVIC would be complaining about NOx levels and threatening to shut your tuck down. - John D

    Tire Pressure monitor System

How does it distinguish between dual rear wheels?
  20. J

    Tire Pressure monitor System

You would have to contact RAM about that. Maybe if enough people requested it, they could reprogram the EVIC to accept and display additional tire pressures. Maybe as part of their towing package. I had a tpms for the 5th wheel but gave it up when the batteries in the senders started to expire...
