    Tach problems on 06 Ram

I had forgotten my whole 06 CTD nightmare, since I finally gave up and sold it last summer, until I got an email saying this thread was updated...lol.

    2006 Dodge Ram 2500 QC 4x4 TRX4 Cummins 5.9L

2006 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 TRX4 with 5.9L Cummins diesel and automatic transmission. Well maintained and in excellent condition. 226k miles. Engine is stock, although the truck has an Edge Evo CTS tuner recently. This is the TRX4 model, which has the businessman's console in between the front...

    '06 A/C Compressor Replacement

It cools for 15 seconds and then starts to warm up. I'm cool with changing the parts, but the @#%$$%$# connectors are such a pain to get apart. I had the dealership replace the compressor less than 2 years ago and its already failed and I haven't been able to get the lines apart using the spring...

    '06 A/C Compressor Replacement

Ok, I get it now. Yes, I did attempt to run the system with oil and refrigerant in the system, however I didn't have the equipment to evacuate it first...I was stuck on the road. I may try evacuating it tonight and recharging it tonight, without changing the accumulator and orifice, if you guys...

    '06 A/C Compressor Replacement

Thanks for the reply. No, the A/C was not on when it failed. I now realize that I need to also replace the orifice line and the accumulator to ensure that no debris is clogging the system. After I get that done, I'll vacuum down the system and recharge it.

    '06 A/C Compressor Replacement

I had the A/C compressor seize on me on a road trip the other day, which also snapped the serpentine belt. Since I was in the middle of nowhere and I needed to get home (150 miles) that night, I ended up getting a replacement compressor and changing it out in a Mcdonald's parking lot. I'm not an...

    P0299 Disaster

I just wanted to give a quick update on what actually was the cause of my low boost problem, and the solution. As it turns out, even thought the wastegate arm was turnbuckled closed, the shaft and flap of the wastegate itself were seized in an open position. I swapped out the whole turbo for a...

    P0299 Disaster

In my case, I think the code is just an indicator of the real problem, which is low boost. When you can't get over 20psi under WOT, with or without a programmer, something has to be wrong with the turbo system. I'm going to replace the turbo as well as all the intake hoses/clamps, as long as I'm...

    P0299 Disaster

Thanks All. These are numbers Cerberusiam was referring to: Run Time: 310 sec Fuel pressure: 19936.8 psi Fuel level: 100% BARO (InHg): 28.6 ECU Volts: 14.75 Calc Load: 35.3% ECT (F): 194.0 MAP (InHg): 39.3 Eng RPM: 2091 Veh Speed: 74mph IAT (F): 91.4 The latest is that the Edge CTS has arrived...

Edge Evo HT problems on '06

I see a turbo in the near future. I have a Edge CTS2 on its way already (should've been here today!). I hope it will be as effective at making the problem disappear?..

    P0299 Disaster

I'm starting a new thread, hoping to get some help from anyone who may have had this P0299 Low Boost code before. I was posting it under the thread Edge Evo issues, but I've taken the Edge out of the picture and the problem still persists. Cerberusiam has been a huge help so far, but we're still...

Edge Evo HT problems on '06

I crimped the hose with a vise grips. Threw the same P0299 code while cruising at 70mph. The scan tool specs were as follows. Run Time: 310 sec Fuel pressure: 19936.8 psi Fuel level: 100% BARO (InHg): 28.6 ECU Volts: 14.75 Calc Load: 35.3% ECT (F): 194.0 MAP (InHg): 39.3 Eng RPM: 2091 Veh...

Edge Evo HT problems on '06

The load % at the time of those other statistics was something like 41.7%, I think. I have not crimped the boost reference hose. Is that the hose that goes into the WG actuator?

Edge Evo HT problems on '06

I'm not sure how to measure the fuel pressure that you refer to, but the Feeze Frame info from my scan tool says that the fuel pressure is 18635.8 at the time of the code trigger, which was at 71mph and 2009 RPM.

Edge Evo HT problems on '06

Latest update.... Replaced the MAP sensor. Same problem. After longer (20min +) runs on the highway, the Low Boost code and limp mode will come up the next time I start the truck. The truck still seems weak as well, with little power until 50mph or so, then it takes off.

    06 Problems??

Look like I'm going to be the odd man out. My '06 has about 200k on it, 70k of which I put on. I have fixed tons of stuff, including pretty much everything named above, and a whole list more. Everything from silly stuff like the heater doors and door lock wiring and gauge cluster failure. Then...

Edge Evo HT problems on '06

Roger that. I've ordered a MAP sensor. I've noticed that the truck just seems very sluggish since I removed the Edge tune. If I push it at WOT, I can get almost 25psi of boost, but it takes quite awhile to get there.

Edge Evo HT problems on '06

Its only about 30 deg F here, so I haven't tried the A/C, although I noticed the other day that the A/C compressor is leaking coolant. That's a year old Mopar part, so it's probably time for a replacement anyway. :)

Edge Evo HT problems on '06

And the saga continues. I have removed the BD diesel boost fooler. I have tried it with the Edge Evo tuner on and off. I have turnbuckled the wastegate shut. After all of this, I'm still getting the P0299 Low Boost code and Limp mode. It usually happens shortly after startup (within a couple...

Edge Evo HT problems on '06

I have a boost fooler on it that is about 18mos old (put on because the wg used to be rusted shut). Maybe the thing has fried out or gone bad? I took it off last night and I'll drive it for awhile and see if the problem continues. Thanks for all the advice so far. Is the HE351 the turbo that I...
