6.7 won't run, possible turbo issue, need input.

Well I found it... the throttle valve is closing and won't reopen until the key is off. I removed the DPF block plate and it fired right up, realized it was an air issue and found the throttle valve is open until the key goes on and then it closes tight and won't crack open or reopen whatever...

6.7 won't run, possible turbo issue, need input.

Originally I deleted with a Smarty, in later years it was reprogrammed and the Smarty removed when the engine was replaced. The scanner is a Matco maximus 3 or 4 I don't remember if he was using the new one the other day. CCV has been replaced about 15k ago. This didn't start with the fuel...

I think i will go ahead and pull the actuator and do an actuator test as well as moves the vanes manually, how far should i be able to move the block? From what i can seen it only about 1/2" from start to stop.

That was another reason we are leaning to a turbo/actuator issue. Just can't figure out the excessive smoking at idle and refusal to start. And turbo specs didn't show anything wrong on the scanner.

No, I didn't notice any brake at idle with it turned on.

The delete was done in 2011 and has been fine over the years, No CEL other than the one for the MAP sensor earlier in this process which was cleared after the new MAP. I probably do need to check the butterfly as I dont remember now if it was removed or just unplugged, I believe it was removed...

Yes, oil is fine and its not a stuck injector, check that yesterday.

2008 6.7 deleted. Basically have had a lot of issues on this truck, bought it new in late 2007. Lately here are the issues. Started bad black smoking, and lost all power, wouldn't drive past 15-30 mph. Code was p0108 MAP sensor. Changed sensor and problems mostly went away, old sensor was fairly...

6.7 melted piston, 51,000 miles...Fram filter the cause???

FINALLY!!! The claim was paid today, $6,692.00 Was an ***** whoopin, but finally received the check. FRAM seemed to be all for settling the claim...their claims paying company was not. At one point they made the claim that I didn't even own the truck, but its over. Still will never use another...

6.7 melted piston, 51,000 miles...Fram filter the cause???

Well as of today, .......still waiting. FRAM seems to be more responsive than their claims handling company. They keep throwing more requirements each time i meet the previous batch, last week they finally sent me a release letter, however the amount was wrong. A couple of weeks ago they even...

6.7 melted piston, 51,000 miles...Fram filter the cause???

The 3rd party "claim handling" company is a joke, for 3 weeks they haven't been able to return a phone call or an email and that has been with the adjuster, her supervisory (who claims he doesn't deal with FRAM claims), and his manager. I called FRAM today to tell them what a lousy response...

6.7 melted piston, 51,000 miles...Fram filter the cause???

Update: FRAM received the filter on 2/12...and according to the letter they sent me back on that same day "...we have concluded our examination of your product liability claim and have turned your claim over to our third party administrator to negotiate a settlement..." Yesterday i was contacted...

6.7 melted piston, 51,000 miles...Fram filter the cause???

The "evidence" will arrive at Fram on Thursday the 12th. I will let you know what happens. In response to the oil statement, I have it still, but it hasn't been "tested" yet to determine quality? but it looks like something on the rubber worm isle at Bass Pro Shops, lots of metal flake, shines...

6.7 melted piston, 51,000 miles...Fram filter the cause???

I have, cut open a new one today, the design has changed. Fram no longer has the rubber anti-drainback valve, all steel in the new design. I spoke with Fram today, they have assigned a claim number to this. They do want the filter and 2 rubber pieces back for "analysis". Before i send anything...

6.7 melted piston, 51,000 miles...Fram filter the cause???

No, this is much bigger than an o-ring, And the deletes are mostly block off plates. I did find a google search for a Fram PH3976A cut open and that one shows a rubber gasket or hose or something thats at the top of that filter. On closer inspection of mine, that rubber piece has totally come...

6.7 melted piston, 51,000 miles...Fram filter the cause???

I was going to cut one of the new ones open, not sure i need to at this point, all i would see is the new design

6.7 melted piston, 51,000 miles...Fram filter the cause???

Another thing to note, i went a bought 2 other identical filters today.... THE DESIGN HAS CHANGED! I can only guess Fram had an issue with this one???
