Better way to seal a G56

I know this has been out there for awhile, but thanks for posting! My OEM boot is not 3 years on it, and it appears has failed, so I just ordered this from NAPA and will replace later today or tomorrow.

35X12.5 R17 Tires with 2 inch level kit install

Interesting. I guess it depends on how many miles you drive on a set of tires, since it's not my daily driver, and very low miles, I generally replace by age, before they wear out, and I have a set of winter tires which makes the miles even less. 3300 x 4 is well over the allowed axle and...

35X12.5 R17 Tires with 2 inch level kit install

The OEM Load rating tire was also 121, thus these match the OEM tire weight rating, are you saying the OEM got it wrong? The previous tires were OEM size and ran on these rims as well until they wore out/aged out, though the truck is still low miles, I have not had issues yet with ball joint or...

    Grid heater disconnect

What Mikey said, that worked for me until I eliminated it and put in my new custom set up. Just be sure to well insulate that lug so you do not get it shorted to ground, because that will cause a fire for sure!

    6.7 Cummins oil pan removal

It is possible, there was another thread that discussed what it took to do this, here is that thread, page 5: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/alarming-rattle-can-noise-from-under-truck.268418/page-5

    Tires / Wheels too big

I actually didn't lower the bump stops, there is a kit to do that, but I instead went with the sumosprings bump stop replacement. They are intended to add 800lbs capacity when compressed, but in my set up they are about 3/4" from making contact unloaded, so there is plenty of suspension travel...

35X12.5 R17 Tires with 2 inch level kit install

Thanks, that looks about right. The wheel load rating is more than the OEM tires/wheels. It's also more than the new tires load rating.

Here is the tread on the control arm saga: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/front-axle-control-arm-replacement.270995/

35X12.5 R17 Tires with 2 inch level kit install

I just installed a set of Laufenn X FIT AT LC01 LT35/12.50R17 121S Tires I found on Amazon for only $180 each. This is a Hankook brand, so I felt should be a quality tire. They were easy to balance, so that is a good sign. The seem quieter than even the General Grabbers that they replaces...

    Tires / Wheels too big

Oh, and I also put SumoSprings longer bump stops on the frame for the front axle, that I would advise as well to mitigate clearance issues. Here are some pictures of my install:

    Tires / Wheels too big

I just fitted similar on mine, I have 35X12.5 R17s. I am running Pro Comp Alloys, series 01 rims 17x9in (8x165.1mm), I can't seem to find the off-set spec, but they are not same as OEM, tire pushed out by at least an inch. I also put in a 2 inch leveling lift, with Freedom Offroad 1/2" longer...

    Front axle control arm replacement

The PML cover works fine now by just spot face on those 2 capscrews now hex head an recessed, and my minor work to trim part of the bracket. Before the longer control arms, it had sufficient clearance.

    Front axle control arm replacement

No, there is no track bar drop. The 2inch was needed to get the 35inch tires to fit that I just installed, and the longer control arms it turns out were needed, as they keep the tires centered, where they would otherwise not fit.

    Front axle control arm replacement

Ok FOUND THE CLUNK source.. front PML differential cover hitting the track bar mount on the frame.. It actually sheared off one bolt. Also, I was able to adjust the cam bolts back to marks, and then apply a full 200 ft-lbs, and it seems to have held. Time will tell if that holds the...

    Front axle control arm replacement

Thanks, It's not the bolts, they are in the same as original per spec.

    Front axle control arm replacement

Well, turns out it appears 200 ft-lbs is really needed. After a 2400 mile trip, rough SoCal roads at highway speeds, some rough gravel roads and ditches.. the left side cam bolt appears to have shifted a bit, and the alignment is now a bit off. 150 ft-lbs could not hold it it seems, so these...

Loss of ODB2 Port network connection, I think it's a TIPM problem

Well, the issue persists, it's unpredictable and does the same thing with both ECUs. I now have it set up where I can do a plug-n-play swap of ECUs if needed in less than 30 minutes.. and will carry the spare and tools needed should an ECU give up at some point.. It seems it has to be something...

    Front axle control arm replacement

Then I realized I have a Chilton Manual. I thought.. hmmm wonder what it has for the lower control arm torque specifications.. and it has 200 ft-lbs for both sides. NO WAY can I get 200 on that cam bolt, 150 will have to do. It has been an interesting experience for sure. So far seems to be...

Rough Idle/apparant misfire during high alternator load

Since it came up here, the Grid heater is gone, the new custom heater is installed in the cold side intercooler to intake pipe, it came out quite nicely. Easy to service if needed, and it draws about 150amps, vs whatever insane current the grid was pulling. Several drive cycles all seems well...
