Not sure if this helps you, but, I had to sign the service paper beside where it said recall. No welding done. I checked later at the FCA recall site and it was cleared. SOOoooOoooOo, your service manager is full of it and he CAN clear it.

My 2016 and my brother in laws 2012 both creak and pop unless lubbed heavily.

And then the alignment shop is going to reweld the nuts? Can't wait to see how that works out. I'm willing to bet most alignment shops don't even own a welding machine. Last time I checked, welding ANYTHING is not cheap.
