    Ongoing no start dilemma

I can't tell you how, but here's what happened (years ago): I prepped my truck for a long trip. Part of that preparation was draining 'the water' from the fuel filter. As I went up hills, I began to lose power. I crossed the Appalachians (non-interstate) in 3rd gear barely doing 30mph with...

    Ongoing no start dilemma

Oh, I also got sick of those gasketed metal sealing washers for the banjo bolts. Replaced with copper washers, and they work flawlessly.

    Ongoing no start dilemma

My water drain assembly (with the WIF sensor) at the bottom of the fuel filter caused me much grief by letting air into the fuel system. I replaced it with the Fleetguard one, and it went bad in about 4 years. I've since deleted it! :) Geno's sells a fuel filter plug for 15$ for such a delete.

Rack and Pinion Bolt - Socket Size?

Ty, sir! Yes, that'll be the easiest part. :) I'll try and grab the parts next week, but I probably won't start the project for another month or so. Have other fish in the frying pan. If I could only squeeze more hours into a day!

Rack and Pinion Bolt - Socket Size?

Should I bring metric or SAE down to the yard?

Rack and Pinion Bolt - Socket Size?

Saginaw recirculating ball pump for all of us G2's. I am thinking about "going shopping" at the local salvage yard, though. Maybe grab myself an upgrade! ;)

Rack and Pinion Bolt - Socket Size?

For those of you with RWD (or those who simply know!), what size socket is required to remove the two large bolts securing the rack-pin in your vehicle? Also, what is the torque value on it? TYiA!

    Increasing Fuel Supply

"I don't think another tank like the original would fit with enough space between the tank and driveshaft for me to be comfortable." The issue is the location of the mount for the passenger shock. You'd have to put the standard Ram tank too far forward, so the tank wouldn't fit as it would...

PS Spacer Dimensions -- Help Needed

Thank you much, BigPapa! I became concerned when I saw that the nuts weren't flush with the VP adapter. (Those nuts in the pic are hand tight.) The VP adapter does sit flush against the PS pump. The parts diagram pdf I viewed is the "1994-96 Truck Parts Catalog". It did not differentiate...

PS Spacer Dimensions -- Help Needed

I like the washer idea. Estimating the proper thickness with feeler gauges is my last resort, for I'd feel more comfortable knowing what the specs are.

    High Pressure PS Hose O-ring

A final thought regarding ordering from McMaster-Carr: The website assumes that you want overnight shipping. If you find you have a ridiculously high shipping & handling price, then ensure that you are not getting next day delivery! I couldn't resolve the s&h issue through the inet (probably...

    High Pressure PS Hose O-ring

The auto parts stores near me didn't know which rings would fit, but offered to sell the entire hose. Desired material: FKM (Viton) or FFKM ((Kalrez) (highest temp & best chemical resistance) ($)) with a preferred hardness of Durometer 90. Both types hate brake fluid, fyi. AS568 size "dash"...

Apologies for duplicate pictures. After multiple edits, they won't go away.

PS Spacer Dimensions -- Help Needed

Missing from PO. :( Apologies for the slightly blurred picture. 1996 Ram 2500. Chrysler part # 4429806 This spacer was used back in 1st Gen vehicles as well. I keep finding "Product Not Available" and "Discontinued" across multiple sites such as factorychryslerparts.com & moparpartsgiant.com...

    High Pressure PS Hose O-ring

A thread here from years ago mentioned using a "Danco #6" o-ring, but the dimensions don't quite line up. The 94-96 Truck Parts Catalog does not mention the o-rings. Only the complete hose.

    High Pressure PS Hose O-ring

Doing a PS flush. I think this o-ring has seen a few years. A) What do I replace it with? B) What type of material does this o-ring use? EDPM, Buta-N, Vitron...? The metal tube OD --> ID for the o-ring I measured at 9.2mm / .36" The o-ring thickness (in its squished state) I measured at...

    WTB Entire Dashboard

Any 1500 dash frame from '94-'98 will work for you. Plenty at salvage yards. You just insert your diesel instrumentation (tach/speedo/odo). The rest is the same. As for an uncracked dash... that'd be a rare find! Make sure you get/negotiate the price before you do all that work. G/L

    vacuum line repair

I had to remove driver's battery tray. Besides the obvious 4 x 13mm nuts/bolts holding the tray down, there are 2 more hidden ones that are easily accessed after taking off the wheel well liner. Removed the electrical connectors for both the battery temp sensor and the cruise. Then there are...

    vacuum line repair

Cruise control now works! 1/8" inner diameter fuel line that came from a small engine repair kit for a weed eater. Heat shrink has the adhesive lining on the inside. I absolutely needed to heat up the fuel line, and I applied a bit of silicone to the vacuum line due to the tight fit.
